Ok so I read the books and knew the Red Wedding was horrible, but man did the show elevate the horror factor! I felt physical pain when they "went there" with Rob's wife's (Jane's) belly!!! anyone else pregnant and avoiding weddings now? Lol

Omg even DH is disturbed. He keeps talking about it and he's like, "but she was pregnant!!" Def had to stop eating my dinner during that scene.
pomelo / 5628 posts
She wasn't even there in the book, right? I'm even sadder about Robb's death after seeing him in the show!
honeydew / 7444 posts
My mouth was open the entire time. I knewwww something was going to happen once the doors closed, but i had no idea THAT was going to happen!!
I had to turn away during that particular stabbing scene.

I read the books and knew the Red Wedding was coming, but my God, was it gruesome. And I still can't get that horrible image of Jane getting killed out of my head. *shudder*

Whoa!!! I had a feeling it was going to be bad, but oh it was so much worse! I'm still in shock that they went there with jane's death. Yikes.
grapefruit / 4235 posts
Her death was super hard to watch. And Catelyn Stark is a badass. I'm so glad the red wedding wasn't the finale and I've been dying to talk about it all season!
pear / 1650 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: she wasn't!! Me and DH were like "waaiiiit a minute, she wasn't even AT the wedding! Or was she?" But I really think she wasn't!
ugh everyone, that stabbing scene still has me shocked and disturbed this morning!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
Yeah... that was NOT something good to watch right before bed! I only read the first book, so I had no idea this was coming!
@MrsLilybugg: @Mrs Green Grass: From what I gathered from the internet and Twitter last night, Robb's wife is basically a totally different character in the book and TV show (Jane, Talisa) and she did live in the books, so I guess it makes sense that she wasn't there at all. I read an interview with the actor who played Robb and he said they killed her in the show to make it really clear that this story line was just over-- no chance of a surprise heir or anything like that.
It was seriously a terrible (yet, really well done) episode. There was so much carnage that the wife getting stabbed in the stomach didn't bother me much more than everything else, though that image did stick with me. Had some very strange dreams last night.

Having not read the books I was completely shocked! I knew something was up when they closed the doors and started playing that song, but I figured it would just be a battle and they (Robb Talisa and Catelyn) would flee. I gasped so loud, and then sat with my mouth open for the entire scene. So horrifying, but really well done. I wish the season wasn't almost over!

I was shocked!!! I really liked the Starks. Who are you guys cheering for? I hate all the Lanisters, with the exception of maybe one or two...
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@littlek: Tyrion is the only Lannister that I don't want to see killed in a painful death. I'm guessing pretty much everyone will be routing for Danerys (that's spelled so wrong)/Khaleesi now. Which I pretty much was before anything, since she's pretty awesome.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@Foodnerd81: DH thinks something is going to happen between Joffrey and Tyrion.. I like Khaleesi today and I totally want a dragon
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@littlek: Yeah I agree with the Joffrey/Tyrion thing. I really, really hope Tyrion isn't killed off! If this was a normal show, I'd be like, no way, they can't kill off a main star like that, but I know George RR Martin doesn't mess around!
Also everyone who read the books is probably snickering at how wrong I am or something
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
DH and I haven't read any of the books so we were BEYOND shocked by that. I am never grossed out or uncomfortable by gore/morbid things but when they stabbed her in the belly my heart sank. I had such a strong reaction to that scene! Very well done, I guess, right?
@Foodnerd81: Okay..he's my second favorite(DH's most fave!) and I will freak out if he dies haha. I really hope he stays! He's the comedy part of the show.
Khaleesi has been my favorite since day 1, she's so badass.
grapefruit / 4056 posts
I have never read the books either, but I have been rooting for Khaleesi since the beginning, but my friend who has read the books says the one who comes out on top is someone you wouldn't expect ... so I don't now what that means!
The red wedding scene was pretty shocking!

I am so glad to read these spoilers, as backwards as that sounds.
Haven't read the books yet but I usually have to turn my head for the gory scenes - and we were going to watch it tonight! I will be prepared now
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@sorrycharlie: Do you want to know the real moment when you should look away? I can tell you one exact point you should not watch from if you want to avoid the worst!
coconut / 8475 posts
@sorrycharlie: if you have it recorded, don't even watch the last 10mins. It ends on blood.
Annnd I love this pic:

@Foodnerd81: that makes sense! I kept calling her Jeyne in my head, and kept wondering why the heck she was referred to as Talisa in articles online, ha ha!
@littlek: Cheering for DAENERYS! I have a girl crush on her. Love her character. I also really like Tyrion - he's the only Lannister I like, like @FOODNERD81 said
@Foodnerd81: I'll gladly message you spoilers from the book
@TurtleDoves: AWESOME pic, ha ha! And sooooo true.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@MrsLilybugg: NO! I don't want spoilers!! I accidentally read a spoiler from the first season (minor detail like the best character getting BEHEADED) and I was so pissed!
I'm actually surprised that was the only big spoiler I had. I'm usually pretty careful about what I click on, though, especially if I am not caught up to the TV show.
pear / 1650 posts
@Foodnerd81: totally hear ya. And yes pretty AMAZING that the Ned beheading was the only spoiler you encountered!!
@sorrycharlie: im kinda like you where I am GLAD to.know ahead of time of deaths in books/movies
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Foodnerd81: yes! wall post me maybe, if no one else wants spoilers? or here is fine too!
@TurtleDoves: ugh, blegh. dh just put it on, so i'll distract myself or just go upstairs, lol.
@MrsLilybugg: yeah I get way, way too anxious if I don't have a heads up! spoilers don't ruin things for me, it makes it better, haha!! what "book" is the show up to at this point? I have the first book but can't get into it.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@zippylef: how many more seasons do you think they'll take it? are there 5 books, or did I pull that out of thin air? haha.
pineapple / 12526 posts
@sorrycharlie: there are 5 books. They already said they are doing book 3 in 2 parts, so who knows what they'll do with the rest.
pear / 1650 posts
@littlek: yes finale next week!
@sorrycharlie: yep 5 books so far! Of course MAJOR cliffhangers there too...! I hope they the show gets renewed for all 5!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
bah! dh is watching now, and they just all left the wedding for the bed ceremony or whatever the heck. i'm studiously avoiding looking at the tv!!
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
This is one show I really can't get into but I usually love everything HBO. The brother/sister thing in the pilot episode just... Ew. Couldn't get past that.
Sounds like a lot of bees love the show, though. Is this worth giving a second try?
clementine / 770 posts
That does it, I just finished watching it and I can't stand the cliff hangers and surprises anymore. Arya was almost there too! I'm totally getting the books now!
honeydew / 7235 posts
@TurtleDoves: ha! That pic is great
@MrsLilybugg: I read the books too! So good - and soooo many cliffhangers - do we know when the next book is coming out? Is he anywhere near done?? I bet they will keep making the show, but we new more answers!
Want to say more - but don't want to give anything away!
pomegranate / 3577 posts
I've never read the books (but basically spoiled everything through the wonders of Wikipedia and insomnia, heh) but are they hard to get into? There are so many characters and subcharacters that it seems like it would take a pretty skilled author to keep it from turning into a confusing mess.
I'm about to have some down time and need some stuff to read!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: yesssss. You never see the brother and sister together again, IIRC.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
Watched it tonight...I was in tears there at the end. I knew something big would happen at the end but holy cow...
I've been rooting for Khaleesi from the start, and I really love Tyrion. Jamie is starting to grow on me as well.
Wish we hadn't watched that right before bed
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@littlek: my fav is Khaleesi, after she freed the unsullied I read her story on wikioedia and know her fate though. I hope Aria gets her chance to exact revenge on the Hound.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: the twin invest had me reeling. So gross, but turns out during medieval times that stuff happened.

A friend posted this on FB and I thought it was pretty funny -- George RR Martin says he forgot he killed them off!
http://www.theonion.com/articles/oh-shit-i-totally-forgot-that-happens,32673/
Makes me feel better that I've forgotten some of the details from the books, too!
persimmon / 1436 posts
Also, has anyone seen pics of good 'ol George? I'm more than a little concerned he might not make it to the next book, let alone a seventh (which I heard he said would end the series). There were something like 6 years between the fourth and fifth books!
Someone get that man a juicer and some kale, stat.
PS As awful as the gory scenes are, is anyone else way more skeeved out by the Theon torture stuff? I literally cannot watch those...
