Well, I'm not quite like you, as I used to be an avid gamer myself. My husband and I used to play World of Warcraft together until I quick a couple years ago. Now Hubs plays games on his own. It actually works out well for us though because I watch a ton of TV, so he's often playing video games while I'm watching TV or reading a book. I really like my alone time, so I don't mind him playing games a lot. And if I ask him to hang out with me, he always will, so it hasn't been a problem for us so far. Plus, I'm a LOT more social than my husband, so I like to go out and hang with my girlfriends a bunch, and I don't feel guilty leaving Hubs at home because I know he'll just entertain himself with video games.

@mediagirl: I AM worried about this! I was talking to Hubs last night and I was like "You'll bring me to the hospital when the time comes, right?" His response: "Sure, after I finish my game." I THINK he was joking...

Haha. I used the term gamer widow in the other post. I exaggerated a little because he's actually not as bad now that we have kids. But say I want to watch SYTYCD he goes downstairs to play. Only when a new game comes out does he go to bed extremely late. Oh and sometimes he uses the "I'm goon downstairs to get toilette paper or to get dressed" but 30 mins later he's still not back up. He tries to play a quick game before coming back to family reality. Ha

Mine is a gamer, but the traditional type. He likes european style board games. I like them too, so its not completely awful.
Often though, I'll stay at home or go out with the girls instead. It's nice to have some alone time.
He went to play games last night and I watched the olympics.

Haha luckily we both are big gamers, but I do worry that when we have a baby I'll be a bit of a gamer widow! For now though, we are both content to play video games either together or separately. I even request that he go play his game sometimes so I can have time to myself to read

I cause my husband to go back to gaming and I highly regret it. He played lots of video games when he was younger but not as an adult. After we moved in together we started date nights. One night I had the idea that we should go buy some video games and battle each other--to me a video game is Guitar Hero or Dance Dance Revolution. I had a PS2. I made the mistake of suggesting Grand Theft Auto. DH plays Street Fighter and Grand Theft Auto all the time. It's frustrating. We had to go buy a second TV for the living room because he would hog the TV.

Oh, man! This is something i don't understand that Hubby does. He loves games. Plays them in his down time. Right now, he is getting ready to start a football dynasty and do this NCAA football playoff thing. OMG. drives me nuts! Last night, I wanted to watch the olympics and everything and he was 'practicing'. Really? I try to be a good sport about it because he only does it when he is off work and it doesn't affect other things. Uusually I'm on HB or something, but it just bugs me.

@babyjmama: The funny thing is, I can go in our bedroom and watch TV if I was really that upset about it, but I don't get up. If he is on his computer, it's because he is catching up on his sports message board.

He is pretty okay with my TV watching, except for GRey's anatomy. He can watch any gross horror movie, but Grey's Anatomy drives him crazy. I guess it's too realistic.

I'm another who plays games along with my DH. We play mostly computer games, so sometimes I'll be playing on the desktop while he is playing another game in the same room on his laptop. It's just a great way to unwind, and feels more mentally active than TV watching. I expect our game time to go down for both of us once LO arrives, so we're savoring it now while we can.

DH plays video games on his xbox and while I totally don't understand why he enjoys his games at all, it usually doesn't bother me. It gives me time to watch my shows/go online. Plus, its summer right now and I know once school starts and we;re both teaching again, he won't have much time for them anymore.
