We just decided to have one....this Saturday. Are we crazy? What are your tips?

Oh, my, you're ambitious! I'd say to have stickers (even different colors to coordinate categories or what's hubs' vs yours, etc) with the prices on everything. Then you don't have to add up on the fly but can just keep all your stickers on a paper as you sell items and count it up later. If you discount a price, just write it on the sticker as you keep it.
Also, as a shopper, I love when things are clearly separated and marked (boys/girls and sizes, kitchen, household, jewelry, etc). And coffee/caramel rolls, etc, to sell and keep folks around longer. Have fun!

Put like things together - all kitchen stuff together, all kids stuff together.
Put large items out front so they are easily seen and get people to stop.
Be prepared to start early and be prepared to negotiate. At our last one, people showed up +30 min before the posted start time and wanted to haggle with us before we had even put everything out. My sister was super annoyed and ignored them until we had everything set up.

Have change and singles.
Provide plastic bags for people to take the goodies home.
Don't over price the items just because you know you or they will haggle. Use the low prices to help make multi-purchases possible.
For big ticket items have a story behind it so people want to givenyour stuff a good home.
