I would definitely get a bouncy seat now. We used ours tons the first 3 months. Yes, you can put baby anywhere if they are immobile, but they really aren't immobile for very long AND they like a good view!

I don't know anything about the stroller you chose but I used the stroller our infant seat snaps into a TON in the first 3 months as well.

You definitely don't need a high chair or a jumperoo (or the like) right now.

I would definitely get the pump, bottles, and warmer. Hope for the best, but be prepared! You might struggle with milk production, latch, etc. I pumped beginning on day 3 and had a healthy breastfeeding relationship with an adequate (over) supply. I recommend being prepared for anything!

A swing or bouncy seat or somewhere to put LO is nice, but not essential. All we HAD to have at first was clothes, diapers, and carseat. We used the yoga ball and glider a lot in the early days, especially for nursing, witching hour, etc. A stroller and bassinet came in handy too. I didn't start pumping or really wearing him for a month or two. Never got the hang of nursing pillows. Never ended up getting a crib.

Agree that despite your plans it's good to have all bottle and pumping accessories ready to go. Like washed and everything. Hoping very much you get the BF relationship you want, but if it's not going well and it's 3am your first night home, it's good to have backup. I would even have a can of formula JUST in case. (I did not and wish so badly I had).

Agree a bouncer is good to have from day one. Yeah you can put them anywhere, but if you have a baby that likes movement (which is most of them) it can really save your arms and back in a moment of desperation! Or if you want to shower and want the baby in your line of vision it's good to have some ting like a light bouncer or boppy lounger (not original boppy) to put them in on the floor. I did that a lot!

For me, the Velcro swaddle pods were a life saver.

We had a major spitter so lots of burp cloths were needed (just used cloth diapers)
What about an infant tub? Admittedly we didn't bath him a ton at first but by week 3 it was part of bedtime routine and there's no way I could have done it in a sink alone.
Lots of cheap flannel receiving blankets. We used them for everything. Covering the changing pad (yes the pad had a cover but it's not somthing you want to take off and wash every single day), covering the boppy (same reason), extra large burp cloth, changing in public, wrapped it around bassinet mattress (same reason as above), laid on the floor (again we had a major spitter!)They were really useful and if it got super messed up I just threw it out.

Hmmmm...washcloths. We used them to cover his penis during a change and dry his bum before diapering/applying ointment. They are pretty multipurpose and cheap so having a lot was helpful.

Way more diapers and wipes than you ever think you'll need (but not too many newborn).

As far as what I wish I had purchased - a rock n play. Changed my world at 6 weeks but that's different for every baby I suppose.
Lots of extra bassinet sheets/crib sheets. They got way more messy more often than expected.

Crazy how it feels so long ago but I know we made a LOT of buy buy baby trips in the first couple months. I just can't remember specifics!

We were gifted a swing and bouncy seat and I really liked having them as alternate places to sit her down. We never bought a high chair (just use a booster that sits on a regular chair, it's much easier!) and the exersaucer was used for such a short time that I probably won't get one again.

I would get the pump, bottles, and accessories now (or whenever your insurance says you can get it). I started pumping when my milk came in to help with engorgement and also to start my freezer stash. I had to throw mine out twice during my leave due to thrush, but if I hadn't I would have had well over 300 oz and it wouldn't have been so hard to keep up toward the end of our nursing journey or when I was sick. I also loved having my stroller in the beginning so we could go on walks. We had a snap and go that we could put the bucket right into but check and see if your stroller has a car seat attachment. I also started babywearing the day after she came home, so having a Boba Wrap was awesome.

Also you can always buy it now and return it later if you dont use it. For example, I had my pump at home (before it was covered by insurance) and it was still in the box. Luckily I did though because We had to take it out and use it that first week home.

I would definitely have the pump/bottles ready. I ended up pumping while still in the hospital since we were having latch problems and I pumped quite a bit the first 3 months until we got things sorted out.

Bouncy seat, definitely. You have to be able to put the baby somewhere when you are at home! We used ours daily from 0-9 months.

I would have a stroller option available. But we live in a walking city with no car, and I didn't want to baby wear all the time.

I agree with pp that bottles, pump parts, etc. are a necessity. Plus, it is absolutely not a guarantee (although likely) that bf will be successful.

I did not personally use a bouncy seat as much..probably because of the one we chose. But, I used our stroller (car seat attached to stroller) daily from day 1. It was important for me to get out of the house on walks during leave.

We used our swing and a high chair from the day we came home. Our high chair is one you can use from infants-2 years old, it reclines to three different positions. So we used the high chair or swing when I was making breakfast or when we were eating dinner so baby could be with us while we ate.

I used the pump when my milk came in, just to relieve some engorgement and build up a little stash while I had a lot of milk. Now at 3 months pp it's hard to pump anything, but breastfeeding is still totally fine (I'm just making what she needs and she can get it out quickly and easily). I also only pumped for a week or two to build up a supply and then stopped and also never used that milk because I just didn't need it.

The other thing I used was a baby wrap carrier quite a bit. It allowed me to eat with family at dinners because she would just sleep in it for an hour or two. I used it if I needed to do dishes too.

Things that can wait for at least a month in my opinion: play mat, bottle warmer, bottles.

I also think you should get the pump right away.

I love the Gluxe! Will you use a car seat frame for the first few months?

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: ah ok. Then yeah I agree with almost everything said above.

But for things you don't need right away (stroller for example) you could wait and leave on the registry in case people are asking before the sip and see. A few friends could get together to buy the gluxe or whatever.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: From your list is most necessary thing to get would be some kind of pump. Even if nursing is going great, you may need the pump. My LO couldn't latch when I was really engorged so I had to pump until I was softer. My hand pump was great for this but it wasn't an option not to have anything.

If you are definitely going to get a bouncer and playmat, have them from day 1 or you will just get less use out of it (these have a short enough life already). I had my babies in bouncer and on the playmat within the first week.

I personally used my stroller most in the first 12 weeks when I was on mat leave because he would nap so well in it and it meant I got a walk instead of being stuck inside the house. My LO runs HOT and hated the carrier in the early days (now he likes it just fine.) If you are committed to not getting a stroller that works with your infant seat, then you probably don't need that until you feel comfortable putting your LO in the stroller (for my early sitter, it was about 5 months old)

I pumped from like day 4! So I agree you will need that right away.

These are what I liked. I've seen pul backed ones that look interesting too but this is what I used the most and saved for #2.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Are you doing an infant carseat? If so, I definitely recommend getting the snap-and-go or whichever version is specific to your seat (I have the Graco one because my seat just clicks right in). I loved having the stroller option in the store or out on a walk when we didn't want to babywear.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: We actually had good luck with transferring DS into the Ergo from the car seat (asleep) - it was a big production of keeping the car/radio running, swiftly move him into the carrier while bouncing and holding him tightly, then turn off engine and close car door for success. Despite my comment about the gluxe visor, i think it probably has the biggest shade out of all the umbrellla strollers out there!
