Do you know anyone with a gemstone name?
I know a Ruby, Pearl and Onyx. My mom has a friend named Opal.
I love the name Ruby but I think my mom would flip out because my dad dated one in college.

Emerald is a guilty pleasure name that I would never use. I'm just imagining DH's face if I suggested it, ha. Most of the gem names just don't sound fresh to me.

We're using a gemstone (Ruby) as LOs middle name.
It's a family name on DHs side. I love the name Jade, too!

My old Pilates instructor was named Pearl.
It was weird because I associate that name as a "grandma" name and she was a young beautiful 20 something girl!

We have friends' with a daughter named Ruby. I think it's cute.
I really like the name Opal, actually, but I still think Pearl sounds too old, though it would be a cute middle name.

@blackbird: Strippers are the first thing I thought of when I read the title.
And the second thing I thought, after reading the post, was that Onyx is a pokemon. Which is what I would think, before gemstone, if I met someone named that.

Does Crystal count?
In elementary school, we started a gemstone name club. We had a Crystal, Ruby, Emerald, Pearl, and Tanzanite (nn Tanzy).
They often name stripper characters Crystal.
