The hubs and I are currently TTC and this cycle has been really good so far. We got the smiley OPK, the chart looks good and all of the physical signs that I read about in TCOYF are there. I just found out that I have to go out of town for work next week which would normally be a great way to keep my mind off of things for the TWW. The problem is that I am scheduled to visit a facility that processes radioactive waste during my trip. This isn’t the only facility I am visiting and I won’t be there for more than a couple of hours but I am freaking out.

When I started with the company they gave me a huge packet of information for pregnant women detailing the potential risks associated with exposure to radioactive materials (miscarriage & birth defects). The company is required to keep women away from the facilities containing the waste if she discloses that she is pregnant. Here’s where I need some advice, I don’t want my company to know that we are TTC but I am more concerned with something happening to the pregnancy if we were successful this cycle. The facility is a low-level radioactive facility but I am not comfortable with any amount of exposure. Any advice on what I can say to my boss to get me out of this portion of the visit? I’ve even thought about pretending to be sick so that I don’t have to go that day.
