Our new years plans are to simplify. We don't have a big house and I'm tired of stuff that I have no where to put. I feel guilty getting rid of things other gave us as gifts but they are just going to sit in totes in the garage anyway?
What do you do with things you don't want anymore?

I donate to Goodwill or Salvation Army. I'm not sure where to donate kid's toys though, neither of those places will take them around here.

We donate them. But Mr. T's mom is a hoarder and thrift store addict, so we have had things boomerang back to us (some more than once!!) and I feel bad that she might see something she gave us that we donated. It's truly nothing personal against her; we donate just as many things we've bought ourselves or that have come from other gift-givers, but we can't keep everything that comes into our house. Well, we choose not to, anyway. If I can think of someone I know who might be able to use something or might want it, I typically ask them first before donating. It's really nice when you can help family and friends save money.

Yup. Goodwill. I also like simplifying and my MIL gets us so much STUFF for Christmas. And unless I can find a home for it...it's got to go. And likely...if I can find a home for it- something else can go.

Donated all the clutter we accumulated over the years.
ETA: there is a charity for the blind called Sight Connection and they will pick up your stuff if you leave it labeled on your front porch. It's so much easier for me to have them come pick up stuff rather than trying to load the car, drive to a drop off and unload.

We give them to St. Vincent de Paul or Goodwill. We have a lot of stuff to give them during the New Year. Simplifying is the name of the game here too!

I can't wait to get rid of some things! We will be doing the nursery soon, and I want to re-organize the playroom so I know we will be getting rid of things. I can't wait, it feels so good!

We do a bunch of things. Some things we donate to Goodwill or Big Brothers Big Sisters. If something is unused or in great shape, we list on craigslist or ebay to see if someone will buy it. You could also give to friends or relatives who are pregnant or have younger kids (we've gotten some nice hand me downs!).

I have a problem donating gifts too. My mom got me an office chair a few years ago, but Hubs uses the office more and likes his better. So now my chair is in storage.

Donate or pass along to someone who would make better use of it. This year we have one gift that we passed along, but it was something nice- we just have too many & it wasn't the right size, but my brother needed one for his new home & it was the right size for his place, so I gave it to him. Obviously the person who gifted it will never be told we gave it to someone else.

I donate too but there are some things I just pitch or recycle as soon as they come in the house. My mil is great but for stocking stuffers we often get really odd things she is trying to cull from her own stash- freebie bath products, samples, dollar store candles etc (one year we got the paper perfume samples from magazines for us to stash in gym bags), these items go straight in the garbage.

Definitely donate! We've just been decluttering our house and getting rid of the things we just don't use feels AMAZING!
