My gut says ours was $2k. In a very stramge way, were fortunate to have her get tubes in the same calendar year she was born. Only positive thing about starting ear infections at 4 mos!! Good luvk mama!

@SteelerGirl: Absolutely shop around! I think DD's were $3.4k total but we had to get them done at a hospital due to an underlying health issue and she got general anesthesia, not just sedation. I know if she would have been healthy enough and old enough to go to a satellite and have sedation, the cost would have been closer to $2.2k. So shop location and anesthesia type since your LO is older.

I clicked on this thinking it would be a thread experience, not price. I just have to comment that as a Canadian, the fact you need to compare fees for a necessary health procedure is absolutely beyond my comprehension. Our system here is not perfect by any means but we did tubes and adenoids last summer for my then almost 4yo and it was the best thing we ever did for him...and we didn’t pay a cent of course and had it done at a world renowned children’s hospital in our city. It makes me shudder thinking of a child who needs this or anything else done and can’t afford it or doesn’t have proper insurance. My daughter got tubes last November. I looked up the bill, and it was just under $5k. It was $820 for the doctor, $686 for the anesthesiology, $3324 for the operating room, and $165 for supplies. Sounds like ours was a little high! Our Aetna insurance covered all but $540.

@muffinsmuffins yeah I'm an American with two kids with health issues and it's scary living in this system. My husband is actually looking for jobs in Canada because I'm terrified living here. And we have "good" insurance.
