I'm going to my first gender reveal party next week and I don't want to show up empty handed. The mama to be is about 18 weeks pregnant...any ideas for a small gift?

Maybe you can buy two gifts.... one for each gender. But don't give it to her until the gender is revealed and take the wrong one back or use it to gift to someone else.

We did what @artbee: suggested for my SIL's gender reveal party. I found a cute "Little Brother" and "Little Sister" outfits and ended up giving her the Little Brother one.

Yeah, I'd buy two gender specific outfits and give her whichever gender the baby turns out to be.

Books! I'd get a couple of board books and a stuffed toy, rather than clothing.

maybe bring one set of each boy and girl trumpette socks and gift them the one that matches what they reveal.
btw, is this gender reveal party separate from a baby shower they'll have later on? or will this be the only party for their baby? curious, since i don't know anyone who's ever had one.

@softcream: yes, this is separate from any future showers! I think they are just serving appetizers and cake...I can't wait! Haha

I went to my sisters gender reveal party a couple weeks ago and I was the only one who showed up with a gift. So I am not sure what is expected. I brought a cute set of gender neutral burp clothes and a wodden house with blocks in it.

@autumnlove: I'd bring two gifts (one for boy, one for girl) - maybe a gender specific outfit with a book. They are probably going to get a lot of clothes, but who doesn't? And the whole gender-reveal party thing is about the excitement of "WHAT IS IT?!" so I think having that first gift of gender specific clothes is so fun!
