I need some help! I need to figure out something to get my MIL from DH and I.
So far I've got her a $10 scarf... that is not going to cut it!
I don't like giving gift cards, and I can't buy clothes for her. I don't want to just do a candle or soaps or something. We are really close.. but I cannot think of anything she would like!

Does she have any hobbies? Mine is really into quilting, so I usually get her something like fabric, or some quilting book, accessories, etc.

This year's gift was pretty easy, because we are telling her that I'm pregnant at Christmas. We are giving her a digital photo frame with wi-fi so we can email pictures of the baby in real time, right to the frame. Since she lives across the country we won't get to see her that often.

I got my MIL a magnetic picture frame with a couple of magnetic pictures. I'm also making her some fudge.

I always struggle with what to get my MIL (the woman who has EVERYTHING) so this year for hanukkah we gave her a pandora bracelet with one charm - a february birthstone, which is when her first grandchild will be born. She cried and loved it! And now we know what to get her for holiday and birthdays: more charms!

@Mrs. Markers: My mom is into Pandora, and it's the best gift ever. Whenever you are stuck for a gift for her just pick out a nice charm!
What about an activity gift? Like a cooking class your could take together or something fun like that?

My MIL is crunchy granola, so we got her heirloom seeds, a mushroom growing kit, and a DIY terrarium kit.

We got her an engraved photo frame with a photo of LO. It's our baby's first Christmas so almost everyone got photo gifts, this year was easy. Too bad we can't do this every year.

I got mine a St. Anne pendant necklace - she is the patron saint of mothers and grandmothers. I am not even religious, but the pendant was beautiful and I liked the sentiment.

I got her a few things. Earmuffs/leather gloves she asked for, a Shu Uemura eyelash curler (she always comments about my eyelashes, haha), a Christmas ornament, and a ring holder for next to her kitchen sink because I just about have a heart attack every time she does dishes and just sets her 3+ carat ring willy-nilly on the counter next to the sink.

@MRS. MARKERS We went the Pandora route, too. My FIL bought the bracelet and now we always know we can get her a charm or two for holidays and birthdays.

We also did a Pandora bracelet for her this year, with the initial of our LO's name to start it off for her first charm.
Last year I got her some Clinique stuff since she never spends money on quality lotion, makeup, etc.

I get my MIL Vera Bradley stuff a lot. She seems to like it. She didn't have any before and I just got her a bag and wallet one year when I was at a total loss and she used them all the time so I just add to the collection now.

Wow! Pandora seems to be the MIL gift this year. Mine already has like 2. We went with a gift with MIL and FIL together. She mentioned that she thought that it would be fun to have a cornhole set, so we got them that.

What about fruit of the month? A cookbook? I make handmade cookbooks with different themes and put pictures of our family in it, this year was a camping one.

I just did a hamper style gift full of a lot of random gifts I knew she'd love - little bits of crockery, food items, a cute set of recipe cards, etc...

My MIL collects Swarovski crystals. This year we got her a Swarovski brooch & earrings & a sweater wrap. A few years we have gone all out and splurged on her (LV purse, etc.) and we've also done things like Chanel make-up and perfumes. She likes designer stuff, so it's easy to please as long as I have the budget for it.
