My brother is graduating from the police academy and I have no idea what to get him as a graduation present. I think when he graduated from undergrad I got him something that would be useful in gradschool (his plans changed). But I have no idea what's useful or appropriate in this situation.
Any ideas would be appreciated!

Not sure what you're willing to spend but maybe a watch or sunglasses that can be worn on duty. (Like Oakleys or G shock or something along those lines.) Gift card to a supply place that he goes to or a window tinting place for his work car if he is thinking of doing that. Or to a shoe shining place for probation? Or just go with something he likes totally not related to the occasion just to recognize him. Food gift cards! Good luck!

@Meowkers: maybe a case for his gear? He will likely need to transport his gun to and from work unless he leaves it in a locker. Also a small digital safe to secure it at home if he does not already have one. Before DH was police he had never shot a gun (neither had I) and we did not have any in the house. So if he is new to gun safety these would be practical. A watch or sunglasses would also be nice.

@youboots: Ohhh yes maybe even a nice box that he can put all his gear in when he comes home?! Cuffs, radio, keys, name tag, keeps from duty belt....etc

I think it would be funny to get him a "police kit" with a nice pair of sunglasses, some dunkin donuts or similar gift cards (local place or his favorite, whatever), a nice travel mug. Fun stereotype, but still useful, since it's your brother
