Hellobee Boards

This is my first year too. M has a teacher and two teaching assistants. I was thinking of doing a $20 Starbucks card for each plus some books for her classroom.

we have a local country store and we have gifted dd's teacher with soap or lotion but only because we know she is into that stuff. sometimes i bake cookies or bread. would love to get a more general idea for this year because i feel clueless!

Our school has each teacher fill out a sheet that lists what their favorite stores are, whether they like candles/scented bath products/etc, what their favorite treats are and whether they have any hobbies; so that makes gift giving much easier!

I generally give a gift card and a box of chocolates and a small gift that I think they will like. Or some nice bath products, and some small stuff like lip balm, etc. Homemade treats have been a hit, and I’ve also given a bottle of wine to a teacher who I knew liked red wine and a mug and selection of nice teas to a teacher who loved tea. So, I’m kind of all over the board with gift giving I guess.

I think gift cards are always appreciated, especially ones to Target or similar where the teacher can really pick up whatever they need/want.

As a teacher, my favorite gift is always a note or meaningful card--especially when it contains specific details about the class, the student, or how we've worked together throughout the year in class. I save them to look at on tough days.

Gift cards (Target/coffee/etc.) are never a bad thing, either! But years after, the notes are definitely what I remember.

I typically do a small gift card plus homemade gift. I like Target because who doesn't love Target?! And it's not interest specific.
I usually do $10-$20, per teacher + homemade gift and a handmade card by LO.

Gotcha! We have a FB group for the parents at our school. Teachers are not included, so we usually do a big pitch-in for gift cards, then each bring something small like flowers, cupcakes, or new books for the school. It works well, and gives the teachers a nice size gift card to use.

@atoz: Yes to the notes! I keep all my favourites from over the years, they remind me why I do this.
