Do you generally see the positives in things/life/etc first? Or expect the worst, so that you're pleasantly surprised?
I'd say I'm usually a glass half full type of person.

I expect the worst. I have such little faith in people, sometimes, heh.

I always hope for the best, but have a plan b in case everything goes bad.

@MrsMccarthy: us too.
I see the best in everyone and everything, DH is a detective and years in the job has made him much more glass half empty!

I don't mean to do it, but I think I'm half empty. Not in a way that I poo-poo anybody's plans/ideas, but moreso that I interpret things in the worst possible way. DH and I regularly walk away from the same interaction (like a prenatal appointment or group dinner) with vastly different ideas about what was said/intended (he thinks it was all good, I think there was some unsaid negative thing). I'm working on it!

It's interesting to see that the poll leans Half-Full, but most of the commenters are Half-Empty!
I think I def do have moments where I am Half-Empty and expect the worst (from past experience or what not). But, I'm trying to be more positive overall and hope for the best from the get go!

I think in general, I'm a half-full type of person. I naively think people have the best of intentions and tend to think things will work out. However, I have a history of anxiety and depression, so I have my half-empty moments too.

half full for me. i can get negative easily, but generally i try to look at things as positive. it's actually too easy for me to go down a rabbit hole of negativity, so i actively search for the good.

I'm half full. DH is half-empty. Life has been pretty stressful lately, so we've been talking about how the half-empty all the time attitude is really getting me down.

DH & I are both half-full. I have been half-empty in the past, but being with my husband has really taught me how to have a more positive perspective. It's something that I've really worked at for a few years as part of managing my chronic anxiety, and I'm happy to say that I don't have to work as hard at it anymore; being positive is starting to come much more naturally, and I've never felt better.

Half-full... I am a pretty positive person, and usually think the best of people. I tend to give the benefit of the doubt, until they prove me wrong. I also forgive easily and it's hard for me to hold grudges.

Half-full, unless it comes to infertility and anything related to me. I can be pretty hard on myself.

@renee: Yup, same here. I've had history of depression, too, so I do get in depressed moods and have half-empty moments.

Half full, I generally root for the underdogs and I always try to see the bright side.

I'm an eternal optimist. Glass is half full.
My DH is the opposite. Guess we balance each other out.
