If you go out drinking with friends how do you get home (assuming you don't live close enough for a cheap cab or walking).
There's been a crack down on DUI around here and I really know what damage that would do to our family let alone if someone got hurt.

We live in NYC, so we're totally spoiled with cab/walking/or public transportation. I'll never drunk drive, since I don't even have my license yet.

Someone with us always ends up being the designated driver...a lot of times it's me because I'm not a huge drinker anyway, so I'm fine with that. If I decide I want to have a little more fun then usual, DH will take it easy and drive.

We usually assign a DD (and it's been me since June 2011) or we get a room where were going to be.

I live too far from civilization so I don't drink or I only have one drink early in the night!

DH is off to have a guys night. They all live across town. His solution is to crash on one of their couches but then he uses that as an excuse to drink a lot and it cuts into our day the next day (but I want him to be safe and not drive so if this is needed its understandable but shouldn't be the default). Is just that tough growing up phase of needing to learn how to have a few drinks and not get drunk and be responsible (both driving and to family time and responsibilities).

When I used to go out I would park my car overnight & take a cab the 45 minute drive home. Figured the cab ride was still cheaper than jail & WAY better than hurting myself or someone else.

If I didn't live within T (subway) limits and no cabs, I wouldn't drink or I'd get a room. I don't trust most people to not drink when I'm out.

DH doesn't drink & doesn't drive either. He lost his license for 15 years for his 3Rd dui. We met in the program. I drink occasionally & make sure I either drink in moderation or have a ride. I rarely have a ride.

I'm spoiled in the fact that my hubs is almost ALWAYS the DD. He's always saying that he had his fun back in the day...but hello, I had my fun, but I'm not done yet hehe!

I am normally always the DD which is fine with me! I get horrible hangovers and I hate dealing with them. I still have a great time though!

I am allergic to alcohol so I always dd. even if dh has just had a drink or two, why not?

We live a relatively expensive cab ride away from our hometown where a lot of our social events happen - one of us (and usually me) is the designated driver. Public transport other than cabs don't really exist out this way after about 7pm!

i can take the train, or a really expensive cab.... otherwise I would just be the DD.
