I'm due with a little girl next month and I know I want to give my son something "from his sister" but I don't know what.
We gave him a baby for his birthday two weeks ago, so I"m a little stumped. He loves fire engines and trucks and trains etc, but I feel like he kind of already has them...
What did you give #1 from #2?

We got him this little basketball hoop set:

We gave him the basketball at the hospital and then set up the hoop once we got home. We also got him some toy cars and a stuffed bear (we got the baby a matching bear and called them brothers).

We are not there yet but I was planning on getting my LO a set of "baby gear" to go with her baby dolls. Something like this:

It can really be anything. Just go with his interests even if it means another train. He'He'll just be happy his little sister knows what he likes already.

I did something a little different. I didn't think I should get DD1 a gift for "existing" more or less (plus her baby sister was a great gift!), so I made her a special big sister bag. I bought DD1 a bunch of little things from the dollar store, coloring books, stamps, stickes etc. Whenever she had a day where she was a good big sister (or I needed her to be occupied or felt guilty because DD2 needed me more than usual), she got to pick something special from the bag. It's been almost 9 months and she still has days where she can pick something from the big sister bag.

I am due in a few weeks and DS1 is 19 months. I ordered blocks for him and may get him a ball to kick around and a magnetic train.

@Tidybee: that is a great idea actually, and I think I might start using that to deal with the constant hurting/bothering issue we've been having!! Would love to hear what stuff C has really liked from the bag!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yeah, we're kind of leaning toward something fire-truck-y. I think DH got a firetruck from his sister, so there might be some nostalgia there.
@autumnleaves: He just turned 2 last week, so he just got a bunch of new stuff from family, which is why I don't know what else--he has so much!

@HazelEyes: @hilsy85: her favorite was some cheap plastic mermaid from the dollar store. No kidding. But everything was a favorite for a few hours...the newness of it and the reward of it. I got some bouncy balls, some mini coloring pages with matching markers, a decorate your own bracelet kit....I literally raided the dollar store on two different occasions and still have stuff in there. I know I have an animal stamp set in there, a Minnie coloring page, some

My DD was 1 month shy of her 3rd birthday when DS was born, and she is super into playdoh. We bought her a playdoh dessert creations set as her gift from DS. It has occupied her time nicely, so we have had an easier time transitioning to a family of 4, since she's been so "busy" playing with her playdoh.

@HazelEyes: I don't have any good ideas for a gift from baby- but I wanted to jump on @tidybee's train of thought. We've set aside some duplo kits and some crayola color wonder art kits for when I'm nursing and DS needs a quiet activity. Normally I let him use regular markers and paint, but I think the color wonder stuff is going to be helpful for when I don't want to do a ton of clean up afterwards.
I bought a bag of foam stickers this week to use during art time and DS is a huge fan. They're thick and he can remove the paper backing himself, which is not always the case with regular stickers. I found them at JoAnns and it looks like Amazon and Michaels carries them too.
Does your son have a fireman's hat or a stuffed Dalmatian? That could be a lot of fun as a sibling gift.

LO was 3.5 when brother was born about two months ago. She got a "camera" from him that actually takes pictures and she took pics of all the ppl that visited.
She was spoiled by other ppl who came to visit the hospital too. She told me to have another baby so she could go visit and get presents

My DD "brought" DS a Duplo Zoo truck. It was great as it kept him (then 21m old) busy in the hospital and both of them still play with it now.

When dd1 came to visit us in the hospital, there was a new baby (doll) waiting for her . The nurses even swaddled it and put it in a bassinet for us right besides her new baby sister - it was so sweet. My older treasures that doll and loved getting to take her own baby home from the hospital, too.

We got our DS a magnadoodle from DD when she was born. He loved it (he was 2.5 but not quite into regular drawing yet) and it kept him busy while I was nursing

@akcoffeebean: oooh, stickers! Yes, he is totally into stickers right now! And that is a great tip about the thick stickers. And no, he doesnt have a fire hat or a dalmation... wheels are turning. We did stuffed animals from Gund. We took DS1 to pick one out for his little brother and we picked out one for DS1 that DS2 would give him.
