I didn't really have a dad like this, but I'm glad that my kids do/will!

I hope to do all those things! But it does strike me that all 3 of those things are kinda boy-centric... here are some partial quotes:
<< 1. Affirm Her - If she can learn to believe you, then she’ll believe her future husband when he tells her the same things.
2. Set the Standard - Be the husband you want her to have one day.
3. Talk About the Standard - Talk about the future. As you “Imagine the End” and think about the man you hope she marries… talk about it! >>
I guess two things jump out at me... first, the idea that all girls marry boys and also, the idea that the dad's main job is to prepare their daughter for marriage. I really hope that in addition to that, I can also help Olive learn to follow her passion and make a dent in the world - the same sort of goals I have for our son Charlie!
Anyway all that said, I do love her memories of how her dad built her up and encouraged her to find a good life partner! I would just add two things: 1) your life partner doesn't have to be a specific gender and 2) you can be defined by more than your relationship with another person!

@mrbee: Very good points!
I always have looked to my dad for affirmation, and still do, so I want to make sure DH understands what an impact he will have on her life.
