How much do you spend on groceries every month? We are a family of 3 and 1/2 considering I'm eating a little more than usual being pregnant and all! We live in NYC so things are a little bit more pricey but DH is feeling like I'm over doing it. Any chime in would be helpful just to get an idea of what others are doing. Thanks in advance!

I budget a max of 200/week for our family of four in NYC but can often come in well under that if we are doing lots of soup/salad meals and using pantry items from our stash. This includes 3 meals and snacks a day for two adults (I pack a lunch for DH at least 3 days/wk and he takes cereal/oatmeal/nuts/fruit for breakfast and snacks), a 2.5 year old, and a baby eating a mix of jarred prepared baby foods and table food.
To be fair, we do allot a portion of our budget to wine and fancy meals cooked at home (nice seafood, steaks, cheeses, etc) since we don't get out so much anymore, and I'm not counting that in my grocery budget.

Less than $500/month. Family of 3. We don't buy organic except for milk and eggs and we buy a lot in bulk from Costco.

More than I want to...about 150/200 a week...so usually a max of 800 a month.

Food only, probably $550ish for our family of 3? Add $100 or so for things like paper towels, TP, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, and the like. I do seem to overbuy though because we do tend to eat out on the weekends. So, I'm sure we could scale back some.

Less than $800, but not by much... I count things like wine, TP, paper towels, etc. Basically anything I buy at the grocery store or Costco (other than jewelry/clothes/electronics) is in that budget!

Including booze and food, easily $800 a month. We don't eat steak and lobster every night either; but do eat a ton of very fresh foods every day. The salad mix we buy is $6/bag, we don't eat much canned or frozen veggies. I dunno, it all just adds up.

We are a family of 3 and we spend somewhere between $700 and $800 but I am in Australia and things are more expensive here. I would love to spend less and am working on it. Until YNAB we were spending much more, it was awful!

We budget 400 per month when I am pregnant/breastfeeding, and 350 per month when I am not, for our family of 3 (not counting the newborn). We buy organic for the dirty dozen and red meat and eat very few processed foods. It takes planning, but we make it work. We live in an area with a fairly average cost of living.

I hate to even think about it, but I would guess around $200/week at least. We buy tons of fresh fruit and veggies and mostly organic.

Too much. Close to $800 and usually under by a smidge. I have a family of 3 adults, a 3.5 year old and a 1 year old. Both kids have food allergies (dairy, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, soy, wheat, and most seeds), and I'm also eating a restricted diet since I'm breastfeeding. It's easier to cook a meal that is completely allergy free than to make two separate meals. We also eat mainly organic and all natural.

We are two and a baby and spend around $100 each week. We have to pay attention to our purchases and we live in a very low cost of living area.

We probably spend around $650, maybe a bit more. We have a 15 month old and almost 3 year old. The only meat we regularly eat is chicken and turkey. I never buy red meat, pork, or even fish, so our that keeps our grocery costs a bit lower.

Family of 3.5 (DH, me, 16 month old, 1 month old) and we average 800-900 per month on groceries. I kid you not when I say our food budget nearly doubled when DD1 turned 1. Her metabolism is incredible and she eats more than me most days!

I've just cut back our bill quite a lot by meal planning, so we're down to 650 to 750 a month. I'd love to get that to 600.

We spend about $150 a week for the 3 of us, we typically eat out as a family once per week and DH and I eat out 2-3 times a week at work.

I voted 500-600, but we are only a family of 2 right now. We live in the Chicago burbs so things are pricey. I spend $80-100 weekly at Trader Joe's and spend the rest at Target for household supplies and supplemental groceries.
That doesn't include eating out, which we do (takeout) 2-3 times per week. I've always known that I spend too much on takeout, but sometimes you just need to when you're busy/tired.

Around $600-700 as a family of 5 (one is still eating purées though).
When we're strict, it's more like $450-500 per month.

We spend $400 or less on groceries each month for a family of 4. I make everything I can from scratch though to keep to costs down. We do buy all organic dairy and meats with that figure, too.

Mine is $500 for 2 adults and 1 toddler. I don't include house supplies, personal products, or diapers in that cost. I buy organic dairy and fruit and we eat out only 2 times a month.

Honestly, I have no idea. But I would guess $500-$600 a month on just food - not formula, diapers, and other household items. We're a family of 4.

Family of 3--close to $600. I pack my lunch so I splurge on good lunch stuff since even the splurges are way less than half the cost of eating out every day.

A lot. Somewhere between 150 to 200 a week. I'm also counting everything (soap, tp, toothpaste, diapers...) I'm pregnant, plus we have DH and a 17 month old. I work my butt off to make it cheap and eat leftovers and we are still spending a ton. I did "good" this week but I'm looking at what we have and wondering how it will last me all week. This also includes water. We have to buy it and drink about 15 gallons a week at .88 a gallon, that adds up quickly. I wish I knew where I was going "wrong". It causes me a lot of stress.

I would think 6-700, including diapers (we use safeway brand.) That is with a lot of shopping sales and couponing.
On the other hand, we don't eat out and the LOs are here and not getting food at daycare. So that reflects every meal we eat.
But I am surprised how low many of these poll numbers are!

We budget $500 per month for the two of us, but this also includes our cat food, cat litter, household goods like paper towels and TP... about $90 of this is our organic produce CSA delivery. Not sure exactly in the break down on food vs other household goods.

We budget $800/month for 3 1/2 of us, and have a hard time staying under it! That doesn't even include eating out. We don't even buy organic! Grrr.

$360 a month for two of us. We dine out about twice a week as well so we spend about $450 on food each month.

3.5 of us and it varies month to month. This month we spent 700$ at Costco alone. But that'll probably mean almost no Costco next month a few 100$ trips to the local grocery. Id say average it's usually $800-$1000.

about 150 a week for 3 people. we eat fish once a week, and typically one other night we have red meat or chicken (but we pay for a year's worth of chicken at a time- my family raises and slaughters chickens).
I'm trying to get it down lower than that, and sometimes I'm successful. We do buy local meat, dairy, and eggs, and often buy local and/or organic produce (but not for everything, depends on the cost). Also, we shop at our local co-op which is definitely a little more expensive. I started going to Trader Joe's first and we've often been able to get the weekly bill lower because of it.
I have Celiac disease, so we have to buy some specialty products but we do try to limit the processed foods (so its more like we have to pay for a bag of pizza crust mix, where we use to just have bulk flour in our pantry).

$300-$350 month, some months less and some a bit more if we do bulk shopping. This includes household items like toothpaste and TP.

$80-$90/wk at one grocery store. That's 6 dinners a week & 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches for 2 adults, a 3.5yo and a 6mo. We get take out (~$20) on Thursdays.
