After noticing just how many GTA bees there are, I thought it would be fun to try and organize a meetup! I'm about an hour north of Toronto, so I'm totally open to location suggestions.
I was thinking about a weekend afternoon - that way, *most* people should be able to make it (I hope!)
What do you think? Who's in? Any date/place suggestions?

Yay! Sounds great. I am downtown and don't drive so am reliant on the TTC but am willing to travel anywhere on the line.
I'm very flexible with dates so can fit around everyone else. Excited already.

What if we try for a Saturday in October? That way, there's no snow to deal with yet, and it gives everyone enough time to make some travel plans?
Are the majority of people in Toronto proper? Would it be easier to meet somewhere a little more 'north' like Yorkdale, or even Vaughan Mills? Or are they too far out for some of you?

I am in! I voted Yorkdale and October 25th as that would *hopefully* guarantee I have defended my dissertation by then and can start having a life again!

Yorkdale would be ideal but note that on a Saturday, unless you're there at the crack of dawn (ie. at 9:30am when it opens), it gets really busy, really fast!

@Mrs. Oatmeal: For me, personally, Sundays don't work. We can still do Yorkdale if people want to meet in the morning for coffee or something. But maybe we can think of an alternative location?

I just want to chime in on this thread to say......If I ever planned it way in advance, could we pretty please have a GTA meetup when I am visiting me inlaws? We tend to go 2-3 times a year, but the downside is that it's almost always a holiday so a lot of you would possibly be oot.

True question-what happens at meetups? Like, if we were to meet at Yorkdale...what exactly might we do there? Wander and shop? With kids? Without?

@woodentulip: We had two meet ups there before. We just sat with a coffee and chatted. The kids were all babies though, some are toddlers now so I don't know how that will work... Mine will be climbing and jumping off the tables

Yorkdale is an option - would that be people's preference? We could meet in the food court or something.
What about an indoor-playground type place? Or a cafe? I'm pretty Toronto-clueless, so I don't even know what's an option!
I'll start a new thread once we decide on a date/location - that way people can just chime in.

I am totally clueless, we actually had meet ups at Fairview Mall. I actually got them confused on the day and set off in the wrong direction last time, lol

Hi ladies! Just wondering if a Collngwood meet up would work for some people? It's about 90 mins from me and there is a great splash pad in the village at blue mountain. Just a thought for a future meet up!!

@travelgirl1: lol, past meetups were at Bayview Village. Fairview Mall is where we went for Stars N Strollers All in the same general area though.

I have to admit, I like the Yorkdale idea because it is close by to where I live. It might be a challenge with LO as he doesn't like to stay put but I will come armed with toys, snacks, a stroller, and a carrier and hope for the best!
There is a Chapters there which usually has a kid section, so if we need to let our kids run around, we could try that. My LO also just likes walking in the mall and is sometimes good at going in a general direction so I would be up for strolling too. \
@tinyperson: amazing that your DH will come! I am not sure I can convince mine to spend the morning shopping with a bunch of women and kids (or even by himself as he hates shopping), but I will mention it to him.
