Anyone take their LO to Gymboree or anything similar? We don't have anything like that in our town and wondering what I'm missing out on.

We took Gymboree classes and LOVED them, especially after they start walking and climbing. At home it was pretty much forboden to climb anything at all, so it was nice to have a place where he could climb all over everything. The open gym times made the monthly charge totally worth it.
We drove 15-20 mins away for our class... maybe there's a class in a surrounding town?

I tried Gymboree with a 3 month old and while I liked it he got really nothing out of it. I am signing up again when he hits their next level (6-10 months) since he should be crawling by then. It's a great environment, really nice people and I think the free play will come in really handy on our rainy days.

We went to something similar called Kidville. It was awesome when Charlie started walking. We signed up for an unlimited indoor playspace pass and were there every day in the winter. We also took two classes there -- a music class and gym class, and Charlie loved those as well.
The best part of the classes were that Charlie made a ton of friends and still continues to be friends with many of them to this day.

Yup I pretty much had the same experiences as the others posted. Try Little Gym or MyGym... I heard those are very much like Gymboree.

@venice4504: What did they do in the 3 month old class? My LO is 4 1/2 months and I've thought about taking her... but if all they're going to do is watch her roll over, I feel like I can just do that at home for free.

I think you can wait until your LO is more mobile, crawling, walking, etc. I think it is the most fun when the LO is old enough to walk.

We do a babies' music class with LM and she loves it! She's learned so much. She started when she was 4 months and we've seen so much improvement since then!

@ Artbee- they did 2 different types of tummy time (donut thing and mirror), played with the parachute, couple songs with different movements/claps/tickling and some work with different noise maker toys. The 2 kids that were at the top of that age group (6 months) really seemed to enjoy it. The rest of us...eh.
We will be going back. Just when he can crawl and get a lot more out of it. I fully agree that the walking age is prime time for this. So many happy faces when we were there.
