We are considering enrolling Chloe in a 2yo gymnastics class. Another mom from preschool has her daughter enrolled and she loves it.
It's $55/month and meets once a week. Does this seem expensive? I thought it would be nice to get her out of the house, but.. $55? It kind of seems like a lot right??

I would only pay that if there is an open gym option that lets get go run around on her terms outside of class. We looked at a similar class for a similar price and it is literally only 40 minutes a week, half of which was spent singing in a circle. Not worth it!

$55.00 per month for once a week is right on spot. That's what I pay for LO and we are in the northeast (if that even matters!)

Ours is 10/class or 30 for the month (once a week) But I live in a cheap area of country and the gym isn't fancy.

Lots of things to consider but DH and I will discuss it further. Another classmate is possibly enrolling, so it would be nice to have them in class together. We have weekly play dates but this would be something to get her out of the house on a weeknight.
I might look into soccer, too, for the spring. I'll do one or the other but not both!

We're in a cheap area of the country, and it's $50/month for a once a week class. But there's literally only one option in town, so they can charge whatever they want, I guess. We haven't started yet, so I can't say it's worth it at this point.

How long is the class? 55 for a 30 minute class seems like a lot, but for a 45 min or 55 minute class that is definitely a good deal.
I taught gymnastics for 10 years so if you have any questions on what they should be doing let me know.

@brownie: it's a 45 minute class. The one I'm looking at is Wednesdays from 4:45 - 5:30. The woman I spoke with said we can come to one class for free, so I'll likely take Chloe to see if she's actually into it and enjoys herself.
She has so much energy and loves to run and tumble. I'm going back and forth about 2 being too young, and the fee too high, but I feel like she also just needs to GET OUT. Especially in the winter!!

I think that is pretty spot on (cheap honestly, compared to what I've seen - granted it's a different city, where I live, everything is so overpriced!).

I think it's pretty cheap. We spend more for LOs tumbling class. But he looooves it! So money well spent!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Well, the price is good for 45 minutes. As for the energy etc. I started a crossfit class (I don't like the gymnastics program in town) for 2 year old for my son. I personally wanted a semi structured program and most programs at that age are a free for all. But other parents want the unstructured play program. So it comes down to what you want and what you expect.

@brownie: for $55 I'd like some kind of structure. She runs all around our house so why pay money for something she already does??

Our city offers a gymnastics class and we pay $40 for a 16 week semester (16 classes once a week). They have a lot of week night offerings.
At age two it has been a lot of free use of the equipment. Basically the "coach" shows them how to use each of the stations and then the parents just go with the kids to whatever station they want to try.
The stations are really cool though and I would ask about what equipment they have. Ours has a trampoline, several different balance beams, rings, bars, ladders, and then all the big foam rollers and stuff. Its a lot of equipment that we don't have at home and isn't at the playground.

My DD's class (for 3s and 4s) was $75 a month, once a week, so that sounds like a deal (we live in TX)

They offer morning classes or evening. Having an open gym isn't a deal breaker for me; our preschool had two gyms and a playground, and with enrollment you can play there whenever you'd like. We had a play date there this morning!
It sounds like I really need to check out the class and see what it entails. I'd like a structured class! We are looking at an evening class so staying afterward isn't really something I'd want to do -- I'd rather get home to make dinner & have her in bed on time!

My DD's gymnastics class is $50/month for one 50 minute class per week. I think the cost is worth it and DD loves her gymnastics!

DD doesn't do gymnastics, but her music class was $230 for 12 weeks, so $55/mo kind of seems like a bargain in comparison Some of the kids in music class do gymnastics too and they all love it. I wish we could do both!

Around me, that would be a bargain! DD does dance and it is $75 a month. We also do a My Gym, which is $80 a month for one kid. They do have a free play, but we don't go to it very often.

We paid $60/mo for a 18mo-3yo class 1x/wk, but we could have gone w/the $90/mo option for unlimited classes. We're in the Northeast, too.

We pay a little more than that so $55/month sounds like a good price to me. At our gym, the classes for that age are not as structured as for older kids and involves parent participation. There are instructors that will work with each kid. My daughter is almost 2.5 years old and absolutely loves the class. She is very active and really enjoys everything they do in class so it's worth it for us.

It seems a little pricey, but I live in the midwest so I think everything is generally cheaper here. Maybe you could see if your local park district has less expensive classes? I work for a park district and we're tax subsidized so we prioritize keeping classes affordable. It might be worth it to look into it, at least when she's really young and doesn't need super advanced instruction.
