My LO has curls, but her hair is very fine and soft, so not sure what your LOs texture is. I struggle with it too though. She will eat us wash it and comb it, begrudgingly, and as of last week, actually likes barrettes.
I use a spray leave in conditioner/ set angler after the bath before we comb it. Try not to brush too much because it breaks up the curl. But it often is kind of a wild blond mess and I kind of love it.

@Foodnerd81: It sounds like they have similar types of curls, especially with the wild blonde(ish) mess! haha What brand leave in do you use?

@AprilFool: I don't have a toddler with curly hair, but I have curly hair! If you are having trouble getting her to let you brush her hair it may be because de tangling hurts. I've recently started using living proof and they sell a de tangling rinse that you use in the bath and brush the curls with the rinse in (with a wide tooth comb). And rinse out after combing. This results in virtually no tugging during the brushing process. Living proof line is sulfate and silicone free so I think pretty gentle.

@AprilFool: honest Co. I went with leave in since she doesn't like having things rinsed out- why not make it easier on myself? I spray that then gently comb or brush from the bottom first- she hates when I tug it. Usually we use a wide bristle brush but it depends what is handy in the bathroom. Her hair is also still very short- like not long enough for a ponytail for sure. It will be harder when it's longer but at least she will understand more.
My sister has super curly hair and I always wanted it too, so I love that she has the curls I always wanted.

We use the jason kids line. I put a lot of conditioner in and let it sit while she plays in the bath. Then I spray the jason kids detangler/leave-in when it's wet and basically every time I'm going to brush or style it. It keeps it really nice usually. She's an accessory lover though so she'll always let me put in a bow or clip.
ETA and we only use the wet brush.

I comb out her hair in the bath with a wide tooth comb and conditioner. Before she let me fix her hair, I just let her run around with unruly hair. It took awhile, but she finally got tired of having hair in her eyes and started letting me pull the front back. Now she likes it whenI do her hair.

I also have a curly blond! Our current routine is to spray in the morning with water and then Honest detangler, and brush with a paddle brush. Then she gets barrettes. Brushing goes much better now that we use the detangler. Water alone was enough when her hair was shorter, but now we need something stronger. She won't let us do a ponytail except for tumbling class, where we seem to have convinced her it's mandatory!
She doesn't love this routine, but she'll tolerate it. The key for us is doing it every single day--any breaks will result in serious meltdowns the following day.

@Peasinapod: Thanks I am going to google that
@Foodnerd81: LO hair is getting below her shoulders so I really have to start doing something with it.
@JerricaBenton: @avivoca: DH does bath so I will need to get him on board with a new routine.
@hitchhiker: I probably need to be more consistent with it. She hates it so I haven't bothered.
Ok so I think it's time for proper shampoo/conditioner and a spray. Hopefully it helps!

We have a curly haired 2 year old too. I bath her in the morning as her curls set really nicely after a fresh wash. I know there probably won't be time to do that in the morning when I go back to work, but for now it works. I tried using a leave in conditioner, but I felt like it actually weighed down the curls so I stopped. Now, I just usually put her hair half up to keep it out of her face. ( She refuses headbands, clips, or anything else. ) Otherwise I do a side braid.

I have a boy, but he has long blonde curls too! They have started to get matted so I definitely need to figure something out. He could use a trim too haha
I'm going to look into the suggestions here! I've definitely used my conditioner on him before because he won't let me brush it out since it hurts.

I have fine curly hair, my son has thick curls. I don't use a brush or comb on either of us. My hair is relatively long, and I gently run my fingers through it in the shower to de-tangle. I use a leave-in conditioner from Aveda or a coconut oil one for children on me, and I try not to wash either my hair or his more than a few times a week (I get it wet daily, I just don't shampoo everyday). I switch up shampoos, but try to get ones without SLS. We've got Weleda now. Not brushing helps reduce the bulk of the frizz, but I live in a humid climate, so I just embrace any residual frizz.

The Wet Brush sold at JC Penney salon is an awesome gentle brush that can be used on wet or dry curls.

@Mrs. Pen: wow I love his curls! I had no idea he was a curly blond too!
I definitely cannot use anything heavy in C yet since her hair is still so fine. And depending on the humidity it can really straighten out, but if it's humid or she is sweaty it's very curly.

@Mrs. Pen: looove his curls!
My DD still has very fine baby hair but it looks like it is going to curl as it is curly when wet (I have curly hair). So far I just use Honest detangling spray and comb it with a wide toothed comb. That method keeps the main tangles away, but her hair is often unkempt looking since it's at a weird length that is hard to style.

My daughters hair is super curly. Whenever I am washing it I get it wet and put conditioner in, then I comb it to get all the tangles out. Then I wash and condition again. I just let it air dry and never brush it. Sometimes it turns into a rats nest by the end of the day, but it's usually okay. Sometimes I will spray water in the back in the morning to help it lay down.
Here's her usual look!

@AprilFool: My DD has curly and so do I. I treat her hair like I do my own. Washing only 2-3 times a week, using a sulfate free shampoo (I use Fairy Tale Kids on her- http://www.fairytaleshaircare.com/curly-q-shampoo )
Always condition.
In the morning I spray her hair with water and then use a wet brush to get out the knots - I add some Deva Curl gel and scrunch and that's it!
