A door took off half of my 18 mo's big toe nail!! It's still there, but lots of bleeding :(. I rinsed it and put a band aid on, but he just wants to pick at it! No idea how I can get it to heal.

Oh no! Ouch! Same basic thing happened to me, and it eventually grew back after 3ish months. The skin kind of got tough/deadened so it didn't hurt once the actual injury healed. (I think Bandaids/Neosporin/kisses are all you can do...just watch for infection. And call the ped if you think it's getting worse by tomorrow am.) Poor baby!

Ah, poor baby!
I lost my toenail - it took 6 months to grow back. I think I would treat it like any other boo-boo, keep a band aid on it until it heals a little but take it off at night while he sleeps so its get some air

Oh ouch!!!!!!! *cringe*
What putting liquid bandaid on it instead? Screams less of play/pick with me as regular bandaid? Or maybe put on a character bandaid that he likes? Maybe that'll entice him to not play with it as much. Or it might encourage it. haha. Then I suggest liquid bandaids again.

@Alivoo01: I've never used those before! It actually ended up being much better than my fears. We did one day with band aid and then he was okay with it...not even much of a scab.
