Yes. Simultaneously thrilling and so embarrassing. Also on that list: really bad love poems. (Framed!)

One of our good friends (and groomsmen) sang us "In My Life" by the Beatles at our wedding. Except he was so drunk that he couldn't remember the words. It was sort of a hot mess, but sooo funny.
I've been "serenaded" loads of times by him and some of our other musically talented friends, but never in a romantic way.

No. And I'm glad, I wouldn't know how to react and I'd probably do something very inappropriate like laugh. I'm too shy to have all that attention on me.

@artbee: Hahaha. I thought I'd laugh when serenaded, but I didn't!!

Yes! In my last year of high school we had a talent show and this guy debuted a song that he had written for me. My particular class couldn't attend the assembly because we were writing an in-class essay so he went home, recorded on tape, and gave it to me the next day. It was actually a good song!

@Rubies: WOW. no one's ever written a song for me!

A guy in my HS football team got a few of his teammates to to back-up sing while he sang a Boyz II Men song. They caught me while walking down the lawn and I highly doubt I was their only victim! He did ask if I had a bf after and I did!
But none of my bf's ever did that and I always wanted them to because I think it's so romantic! I have a few random poems and drawings though, I wish I kept them all!

That's how my husband asked me out! He made up words to the tune of the Hanukkah Song.

One of my exes did in high school, but I always found it made me feel really awkward, He's a good song writer though!
My husband sings sweet songs to me sometimes when we're driving and it's on the radio, and I love it. It's totally cheesy but it still makes me smile ear to ear!

I was serenaded in college by my then-boyfriend and his frat brothers when he lavaliered me. If that counts.

My husband proposed with a song he wrote. It was all about this guy and girl who met at a summer bar-b-que . . . and ended with, "So marry me, my green-eyed beauty, and be my bride, I'll lead us on this grand adventure we call life. I'll always be true to you and love you more each day." It was recorded on an ipod that he tricked me into listening. So as I listened I realized the song was about us and it was him singing. Then at the end, he got down on one knee and actually proposed. It was the only time I've ever been serenaded. But, it was the most romantic moment of my life.

My ex in college sang to me a lot and even wrote me a song.
My DH is pretty good and singing and sings song to me often. He is random about it too which is cute. I can just be cooking or something and he will spin me around and grab me and start dancing and sing to me. I think its cute and always makes me giggle and hold him even closer!

Yes. I'm fairly awkward so I got embarrassed by the attention.

I always pick on Rob Sr. because we met while singing acappella at our respective schools, so I asked him to serenade me at some point during our wedding. He completely ignored my request, and I swear, EVERY wedding we've been to since then, the groom has serenaded the bride. At one wedding he was SURE the groom wouldn't-- he was super shy and didn't even sing or play an instrument. Lo and behold, the groom had LEARNED HOW TO PLAY GUITAR and WROTE A SONG for his new wife and performed it at the reception, and everyone was so shocked and touched. I could have burned holes through Rob Sr.'s face.
He's still never serenaded me, but he is a writer, and proposed with a poem he had written about me before we were even dating... and every year on our anniversary he presents me with a new poem reflecting on our last year together. I'm hoping that after 15 years or so we can shop his poems around to publish a book.

@chopsuey119: we met sophomore year of college, so we were... 19? 20? We started dating senior year when we were 21/22. Yea, we moved fast... looking back, I have no idea what the big rush was!!
