It’s on my list of places to visit. A former colleague went every year and said it was the best place for collecting shells.
We do stickers, Water Wow, books, tablet, and lots of fun snacks for travel. These were hits at 2 and still are at 3.5.

@jhd: Yay! I’ve heard good things as well but have never been. And I have a bunch of those things on my list!

@peaches1038: I think it’s supposed to be in the sixties?? Maybe 2.5 hours! Should be ok but I feel like we have to pack SO much stuff

@wrkbrk: I've been to Sanibel many times, never with my kids, but as a kid! LOVED the beaches, hotel pool.etc.
We take my kids to Naples, FL every summer, we usually do a day at the hotel pool, day at beach, explore Down town one day and hit up.a zoo or something, my biggest advice is.low expectaions and be on their time! DH and I always take advantage of their naps by having a drink on porch or one stays and naps and other can layout(me) lol

I went to Sanibel for work conventions a couple of times and loved it.
Tips- we’ve had a few hotel-heavy vacations at this point. 1) pack snacks including shelf ready milk. Having crackers and bananas available in the room bought us a little time before having to put real clothes on and head to restaurant for breakfast. 2) plan for just one main activity a day like the beach, hike a natural path or the zoo. If there’s time to do something else go for it, but don’t pre purchase tickets in case the activity gets pushed to the next day. 3) don’t forget to get a cocktail or two...it’s your vacation too!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Oh cocktails are a priority You should see all the snack food DW is planning to pack for us and DS - I thought she was insane but maybe it’s smart!!

@wrkbrk: we went to Captiva when my son was 2! Very chill, you’ll love it!
Are you in a hotel or in a house?? We flew into Ft Myers and stopped at the grocery store & target and got some supplies before we crossed the bridge. You can get some groceries out on sanibel but it’s more expensive, less selection.
There’s supposed to be a great zoo in Naples if you feel like a road trip. Maybe a nap can happen during the drive?
You can rent bikes with kid seats on the back, we did that a few times if it’s not too hot! Sanibel is very flat, so easy to bike around!

@hellobeeboston: Thank you! I am excited! I wonder if we will be able to stop for groceries after the flight, rental car, etc., of if DS will be a nightmare, haha.
