Our 5 year wedding anniversary is this summer and we just booked 3 nights (our kids are young and didn't want to be away longer) in St. Lucia! I'm so excited! Has anyone been? Any tips or recommendations?

Exciting!!
We went to St. Lucia for our first anniversary and had a great time. We did a private island tour through http://www.serenitytvl.com/#_=_ . We went tree canopying through http://www.adventuretourstlucia.com/. I wasn't a huge fan of the authentic St. Lucian cuisine. Our anniversary is St. Lucia's off-season, so the restaurants I wanted to try were closed. This is the one I really wanted to try: http://www.hotelchocolat.com/uk/boucan/restaurant
We stayed at resort in the Soufriere area and our villa overlooked the Petit Piton. You can hike that one or the Gros Piton too. Which part of the island are you staying on?

I went when I worked for a travel agency - it's a beautiful island! We stayed at one of the Sandals resorts and visited the other two Sandals on the island. We did a catamaran cruise one day and the scenery was just gorgeous. Do you know which airport you are flying into? There's one very close to the resorts and then one that's farther away and a couple of my co-workers recommended taking motion sickness meds if traveling from that one because the roads are rough and curvy. I can't remember the names of the airports, sorry!

@littlecasita1122: Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) is the one farther away from the Sandals resorts. George Charles Airport (SLU) is near Sandals and the more built up touristy part of the island.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: we're staying in the soufrier region. Our hotel overlooks the Titons but doesn't have direct beach access.
@littlecasita1122: we're flying into Hewanorra which is a 30 minute drive from our hotel. Since we'll only be there 3 nights we probably won't venture too far on the roads.

@JCCovi: we stayed at Stonefield Estates with no TV- just lovely to unplug! At the time we went the resort next to it sold day passes to enjoy their amenities and beach access. Maybe they still do; it's now called Sugar Beach, a Viceroy Estate.

We went for our honeymoon 7 years ago. I second taking drugs for the drive from the airport. Bumpy and scary!!! The most fun thing we did was zip lining. It was a blast. I highly recommend.

We went for our honeymoon in 2007, and stayed at the Sandals Grande. All the tours we did were organized through the hotel so I don't know who ran them but we did one that was a drive through the rainforest, lunch, and then went to the hot springs and a garden and that was really neat. We also did a "shopping excursion" to the market in Soufriere that was interesting, although a little tiring because everybody is trying to get your attention to get you to buy their products.
The best thing we did was take a helicopter from the airport to our hotel - it was AMAZING to see everything from the air, plus so cool to be in a helicopter!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: we did the same zipline outing! It was fun, wasn't too crazy. We stayed at Sugar Beach when it was Jalousie Plantation, it was so amazing!
We didn't venture outside of our resort much. I think if you only have a few days there you should definitely enjoy the pool/beach and relax!!

@petunia354: I bet it was! That resort was how I narrowed down St. Lucia as the trip destination.

So beautiful there! You're going to love it. Stay out of the sun from noon-2pm. My mother and I got sun poisoning! Stay buttered up!!

Love St. Lucia. Went on a random vacation about 12 years ago and stayed at one of the Sandals resorts. Went out snorkeling and it was some of the best snorkeling I've ever done.

@nana87: that's where we're staying! I really wanted somewhere with the missing 4th wall and we are really excited about the private plunge pool! Did you mostly eat at the resort or elsewhere? We haven't bought a meal plan because we're not sure what we'll want to do.

@Meowkers: where was your favorite vacation spot? My husband loves to snorkel and that's the only thing on our 'must do' list!

We stayed at Jade Mountain with no 4th wall and private plunge pool! No real tips because the hotel was so far away from everything that we just stayed there. I guess one tip is not to leave any food out because the birds will fly in your room and eat it. LOL. Enjoy!
ETA - My profile pic is from Jade Mountain, haha!

@JCCovi: aww I'm jealous, it was so amazing!! We went over 5 years ago so the chef might not be the same, but we ate almost all our meals at the resort bc the chef was incredible. We didn't do a meal plan though, I don't remember the details or if we wished we had

@Andrea: Jade mountain looks amazing! That was my first choice but Ladera had my favorite features for cheaper. That's a great tip about the birds, I definitely would not have thought about it. Did you have any problem with bugs?
