Hello bees,
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with infant potty training when baby is able to sit unsupported.
I would like to start putting my 6 mo old on the potty once she can sit on her own just so she gets accustomed to it and it's not something totally foreign later on when she's a toddler.
My expectations are low, I'm not trying to get her to become potty trained in a sense of only going in the toilet when she needs to go. I know there is such a concept of "elimination communication" that is used in other parts of the world but I don't think it will work since my LO doesn't really give any signs of having to poop or pee. In fact she can sit in her own poopy diaper happy as a clown, and the only way we know that she went is by the smell lol. Sometimes she will grunt or make sounds but it's not consistent.
I am thinking of just putting her on the potty at scheduled times of the day, for example after every feeding and before naps, and if she happens to go in it, just give her lots of praise so she will gradually learn what it's used for. I want to do this so that when she is old enough to be aware of peeing and pooping, that she will already be familiar with the potty and maybe it will be an easier process to get her trained at that time.
Anyone done something similar with their infants and can offer any advice on whether it was worth it?
TIA
