Woke up to go to a meeting this morning and my car wasn't in the driveway. We've contacted insurance and police, but just feeling very violated at the moment. Anyone been through this? Did they ever find your car?

I've never been through this, but I'm so sorry that it happened! I hope they are able to find your car.

@MrsRoo: wow, I'm so sorry. I've never had it happen but I'm so sorry it happened to you.

My good friend had both their cars stolen out of their driveway in a nice neighborhood. They were both found in downtown Detroit stripped within a week. She felt the same way you do - very violated and it took away some of the comfort she felt at home.
So sorry you are going through this! Hope there wasnt much in them!

Oh I'm so sorry! That's awful! And from your driveway? That's a terrible feeling. Good luck sorting it all out.

That's a bummer. No experience but I'm so sorry...I can't even imagine!

My friend did. They found it months later! So sorry you're going through it, it is a crappy feeling to be a victim of theft especially at home.

I'm so sorry! My car was broken into twice in different homes but never stolen. My sister has had her car stolen twice! The first wasn't found. The second was found a few weeks later. She bought a new car and moved. I hope yours is found quickly and that you're able to feel comfortable again soon.

We didn't have our car stolen, but we had our house broken into, so I totally know the feeling of violation and insecurity that comes from something like that! I hope the police are able to help and you get your car back!

When I was younger, our car was stolen and we got it back a few months later... My husband's really nice bike was stolen out of or garage this week, so I get the violation! Sorry

That's terrible! I've had it happen twice- the first time the car was recovered within a few hours. The second it was never found. I remember feeling violated and for a while, worrying whether my car would still be where I parked it. Feel free to wall me if I can be helpful. Hugs!

Thank you ladies! I'm just feeling really overwhelmed. I appreciate the support and virtual hugs.
@AmeliaBedilia: twice!? That's awful, I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I'm approximately 4 hours into dealing with it once and I'm already overwhelmed!

I've had my car broken into, which clearly isn't the same. But I totally understand the feeling of being violated and how overwhelming the situation is.
Sorry!

@MrsRoo: Yes! It was stolen from the parking lot at Kohl's when i was in college. Got it back 2 days later- all messed up!
It stinks so bad- i am so sorry you are going through this.

This happened to my mom. They found it a week later, completely detailed and with some of the broken stuff replaced, plus a fancy emergency kit in the trunk. Hopefully that is how your situation works out! But that really sucks, and I hope you get it sorted out soon

That really sucks. I haven't but my husband had two different cars stolen before we met. The police found both later and said that they almost always do. People here steal them as throw away cars to commit crimes in like robberies or drive bys. One time he found an empty bullet shell under the seat of the recovered car. Yikes.

That's horrible! Do you have anything in the car that you really wish weren't in it? I hope insurance sorts everything out!

@cheert16: thank you, that's terrible! Glad they found your car though. I feel like I'll feel better if it's found. No idea where that feeling is coming from though.
@MediaNaranja: I'll hold out hope that this is how my car gets found! It could definitely use a detail
@travellingbee: yikes! That's what my husband thinks happened. He's pretty confident it will be recovered.

@snowjewelz: no, we don't keep valuables in the car. I think the worst things in there are my daughters car seat and my hospital ID badge.

@MrsRoo: Ugh, carseat is expensive!
I didn't have my car stolen but had my purse with everything in it stolen from the car. I was stupid; I was running into my then boyfriend's house, was supposed to be 1 minute, but ended up chatting and what not and someone was obviously watching Totally feel your pain esp feeling so violated!

@MediaNaranja: I can't stop laughing at this...not sure why I find it so funny, but I just can't stop laughing
@MrsRoo: I'm sorry it happened to you! I hope it all gets figured out soon. What a bummer way to start your day.

I am so sorry! My brother's car was stolen last week but recovered a few days later.

@jh524: I live in the Orlando area, wouldn't consider it a big city. Although we are in the process of moving out of the city proper though! This is just adding to the list of reasons.
@autumnlove: glad he got it back, I'm hoping we have similar luck!

Yup. On the streets of NYC, where I lived. Had parked it for 5+ years with a few break ins but one day I went to where I parked it and it was gone. The police laughed and said it was moved for a movie shoot or towed or something because they get like, two grand theft auto cases a year. Mine turned out to be one of the two! It did show up about 2 weeks later, completely stripped, in Jersey City. I had no collision because it was an old car so I was SOL in terms of replacing it. AND, to add insult to injury, the Jersey City tried to make me pay all the parking tickets it had been issued after being abandoned for several days. It sucks. I'm sorry it happened to you.
