No but I saw a documentary about Ina May that ends with a recent water birth at the farm... does that count
It was pretty appealing!!

I wish!! I'd love to hear about some ones account of it though. It'd be a dream of mine but since my first birth was 11 hours and it's a longer drive than that I doubt it'd ever come true lol.

No, but its not far from here so I've thought about it! If we decide to have another, that option will be on the table.

@CottonCandy: http://www.thefarmmidwives.org/. Run by Ina May Gaskin, the fairy godmother of med-free birth and midwifery.
@Rainbow Sprinkles: Ha! I feel the same way. I love it in theory, but know I wouldn't ever actually go there.

It's not something I'd ever want to do myself but I'd love to hear a firsthand acct from someone who did!!

I am so fascinated by the idea of home birth or birth on a farm like that but I am too chicken to do it.

I live about 4 hours from there! I wanted to but I didn't want to chance a 4 hour drive if I went into labor and didn't have the means to go and stay there for a while around my due date.

@Weagle: I was able to have an all natural birth in a hospital (labored in tub and then got on bed when it was time to push). During labor I kept thinking "wow, I totally could have a home birth," until I hemmhoraged and things got dangerous. I am SO glad I was at the hospital.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I ended up with a transfusion after LO. I feel like I have to see how #2 goes in September before I will believe that it is possible for me to have a birth without complications. Until then, pass me the hospital gown!

I only live like 2 hours away. I am not crunchy enough but it's very cool!

Ok so I looked at their website and I don't get what the big deal is? Is it because of who runs it?

And please know that I am asking from a place of cluelessness, not trying to belittle anyone's opinion or experience!!

I haven't looked at their website but I think it's probably because Ina May Gaskin runs it.

@QBbride: That's what I figured..just wanted to see if I was missing something.

I live like 6 hours away and I'd honestly love to give birth there.

@googly-eyes: I think also because it's about as far removed from a hospital experience as possible.

I haven't (and would have ZERO desire) but I live about 2 hours away and have a good friend who is planning to deliver there. Which is particularly surprising because she's an MD!
