I know I've read that most stores will convert regular bras into nursing bras. When I called our local store, they were a little clueless.

I never heard of this! My nice bras are too small and underwire so I won't bother converting them!

I haven't heard of that. I feel like it would just be easier to get new nursing bras .I'd want to save my old bras for when I'd hopefully need them again.

Wow so interesting never heard of this, but I wouldn't be surprised if this service was offered.

I know the nordstrom in houston does it (they offered), but I did not have it done. I would be curious to know how that works. I ended up buying all new bras after I stopped nursing (due to size changes), so I should have just converted my old bras.

@Thenetexan: Oh, good to know! I'm in Houston as well but when I called to ask they had no idea what I was talking about. Did they offer it for bras purchased there or could you bring in any bras?

Sometimes I feel like their staff is not what it used to be. If I recall, it was only for bras purchased there, but it did not have to be at time of purchase. Keep calling to ask until you get a competent person or ask for the manager. If you do it, please repost to let us know if you like it. If I have another, I would seriously consider it.

Bumping this thread because I heard this today as well! I think I might splurge after LO arrives and buy a nice bra at Nordstrom to have converted into a nursing bra!

@daniellemybelle: A few details. You need to speak to the alterations dept, not lingerie dept. They do it for any bra, even if not purchased there.

How much does it cost? I would think it might be more economical to just buy a nursing bra.

@sunny: It's $10, and free if you have a Nordstrom credit card.

That's a pretty cool service! Although honestly I think there are so many really nice nursing bras out there now (I LOVE Hotmilk - some very pretty and even kind of sexy styles) that I don't know that I'd see a need for it personally.

Never heard of this but I agree it would probably be cheaper and easier to just buy a nursing bra

The reason I really like the idea of this is that I haven't been able to find many nice nursing bras in stores. I'd rather see them & try them on in real life instead of ordering it.
