It's pretty common for girls to hire Korean ajummas to cook and help with the baby if they don't have family close by.
My sister's going to be visiting from mid December-early January, and my mom will come early January since Christmas is her busy season.
My sister can't cook so I'm thinking about hiring someone to come and cook for us. I figure I'll go to Hmart and see if the food vendors are interested.

Wow, that would be awesome! Um, no. My Mom will cook some meals for us to freeze and then head out of town. Other than that, we probably won't have anyone else cook for us.

Nope. I cooked a bunch of stuff before LO came and had casseroles, meat pies and such in the freezer ready to go for those first few weeks.

No, but that sounds lovely! My MIL cooked for the the first 10 days, but after that we were on our own.

Wow I've never heard of that, thatr would be wonderful! haha but I don't think we culd afford it. Luckily around here, people are good about bringing food and I plan on stocking our freezer with meals that I make throughtout the summer to reheat once baby gets here!

I have a friend who just had #2 and they hired an au pair who cooks, cleans and takes care of the kids. I'll admit, I'm a little envious considering we've been doing it all on our own... but it's working out really well for them.

My mom and MIL came over every day and cooked/cleaned when my son was born. For about 3 months! They're both retired and had nothing else to do. Plus they really wanted to be around the baby. It was awesome! They said they will do the same with baby #2. I'm like "Oh heck yeah! Come on over anytime!" haha. It's really nice having parents who live 15 minutes away.

I never heard of this also... But this sounds amazing to me!!! Our closest family is 6 hours away and our friends are limited here due to a recent job relocation.... I think I'm going to bring this up to DH Thanks for posting this question!
