At work I guess I was in a daze walking around and I guess I didn’t notice someone was coming up behind me and I didn’t hold open the door for him. He went out of his way to catch up to me and yell at me for not holding open the door for him. I didn’t even notice!! He walked away before I could say anything.
I am totally confused and can’t help thinking about it. I’m a little upset that he yelled at me but mostly confused.
Should I just assume he was having a bad day?

I would assume he was having a bad day. It's understandable that you might not see him, and I've definitely done the same thing before. Some people don't hold the door open even when they do see the person coming!

Oh no, that sucks. 
I've heard other people give others a passive aggressive "you are welcome" when people don't thank them for holding a door open.

I have definitely been in my own little world and not held the door by accident. He must have been having a bad day to make a fuss about it. Shake it off! You're a good person!

Dude, I don't think anyone is obligated to hold the door open for another person! I mean, it's nice to do, but if someone doesn't, what's the big deal?!

Annnnnd that's exactly why I would never make a big deal out of someone not holding the door for me. I know some people get super worked up about it, but I just think maybe they were lost in thought or not paying attention. Sorry that happened -- it's much ruder to yell at someone for not holding the door than to not hold the door IMO...
