At 3 weeks old, my son had an enlarged kidney and today at a repeat ultrasound, at 6 weeks old, it is still enlarged. It's called bilateral hydronephrosis. Have you had a child diagnosed with this and what happened? Did it go away or did it require surgery?
Please share... I don't know what to think and am worried for him. I'm anxious to hear the final results from the doctor. Hoping to hear frm someone else's experience with this.

I have no experience with this diagnosis, but I did have a kidney transplant as a kid. Just know that regardless of what happens, his doctors will take care of him and he will be just fine!
I'll bump this for you although I don't know anyone on the boards who has been through this. I'll be crossing my fingers for your son's health and hopefully no need for surgery!!

I diagnose kids with this and it really depends on the cause and severity. Posterior urethral valves? That's correctable and good that they caught it early.
Espion is our resident urologist and can go into great detail about procedures/outcomes etc.
