Neither one of my girls have been to the dentist yet, they are 1.5 and 3. I really should make an appointment, especially for my 3 year old...but I keep forgetting about it!
Has your LO been to the dentist? If so, how was their first time? If not, what age do you plan on taking them?

I took LO to a pediatric dentist at 15 months. The pediatric practice suggested coming around the first birthday whereas the practice I go to said not until 3. He just looked in LO's mouth and said they take it slow and try to establish a good relationship. We will try a cleaning at 2 years old but they won't force it if he's not ready.
ETA the worst part for LO was waiting. It's a busy practice! He did fine with the actual check of his teeth.

Yup, we took her right before she turned 2, and she's due for her next checkup in a few weeks. She was not excited about the experience but it was quick and easy overall.

Yes, both have. DD first went at about 15 months, DS at 13 months. Now they go every 6 months.
They do a pretty thorough cleaning, bacteria swab, fluoride treatment, polish, etc.

I took L around 2. He smiled for the dentist but wouldn't let him look in his mouth. He got a new toothbrush, which he thought was pretty cool. I'll probably start taking him with me every other time or so now, just to get him used to the environment.

We took her at 2 years old and she got her first cleaning done at 2.5. She also had a few visits at daycare from the hygienist to do flouride so she is comfortable with strangers in her mouth.

Yep! We took her the week she turned two to a pediatric dentist. Our pediatrician recommended we take her when she turned one but I needed to add her to our dental insurance so we waited. The dentist checked her for cavities, brushed her teeth, and applied fluoride. She did really well!

Yes, they both went in for cleanings around age 2! The dentist used movies as a distraction.

Oh yeah, my LO loves going to the dentist! We take her to a pediatric dentist, so they have obviously perfected their approach to dealing with little ones. LO first went around her second birthday and goes every 6 months for cleanings. LO is *very* sticker motivated and also very chill, so she lets them do whatever they want, as long as they give her a sticker at the end. 
We also have well water, so we do fluoride treatment things there and we’ve gotten her back teeth sealed.

They've both been. The oldest went for the first time at 15 months. She's gone every six months since, but they didn't really clean her teeth until after two. My 10-month-old went last month for the first time with four teeth. I would have waited, but we were already going for her sister and it was covered by insurance.

Yep! She went a few months before she turned 3. She did great and got a whole cleaning with scalers and the polishing paste!

She went to a pediatric dentist around age 1.5. All the dentist really did was talk to us, then look in DD's mouth and count her teeth. The dentist said to come back in a year, and at that point she might do something more like brush DD's teeth there and apply fluoride.

Yes, we took her a few months ago at 2.5. She was OK, but hated having the dentist look in her mouth. She had to go back last month b/c she chipped a tooth and she was much better about the whole thing, so I'm hoping the visits just keep getting better for her.

Mine went at 20 months when I had an appointment but it was just sitting in the chair and looking at and counting his teeth with him. He will have his own scheduled appointment when I go back in 6 months.

yep! she went at 18 months for a check more for us to make sure we were on track. and then last week at over 2.5 because she's had all her teeth for a while. she didn't get a cleaning, but they checked her teeth out and gave us more things to do like floss!

DS went for his first dentist appointment at 18 months. He has his next one next week (2 years). Last time, it was a quick appointment. Asked me some questions about his brushing/oral habits and quickly looked at them. Not sure if the next appointment will be like. I know the point of going to the dentist when they are younger is to get the child use to the dentist.

Oops, I meant to do that for LO1 on this maternity leave. She's 2.5 and hasn't been. She got a flouride treatment at the pediatrician at her 2 year appointment. It made a real impression on her because she keeps saying the doctor paints your teeth.

DS is 3 and has been 4 times. I initially took him because he was getting weird stuff on his teeth. THe tap water here is really hard and it was flouride buildup--probably from water at daycare.

I took him in for his first appointment with a pediatric dentist a week or two ago. They said it was mostly getting him comfortable in the chair with the lights and the tools and having someone in his mouth. They counted and brushed his teeth and applied fluoride, and when he was done he got a toy out of a prize basket and a "No Cavity Club" certificate

Yep! Before she turned 1...I actually think it was around her 9-month bday. I want her to get used to going to the dentist. It went as expected. She didn't like it! But the visit was quick and the Dr was great. Next appt is in December
