for none illness related reasons?
My almost 4 yo has been twice. Once she was jumping on the couch and got a cut under her eye because she fell on the edge of the coffee table. She needed 4-6 stitches.
The second time because she stuck chopsticks in her ears.

She broke her arm at daycare when she was 18 months old. It was so sad seeing her that little cast!

Thankfully, we have never been to urgent care or the ER for her. But she came within inches of doing exactly what you daughter did, @regberadaisy: - jumping on the couch jumped wrong and almost slammed her face into the edge of a coffee table. I had just sat down next to her to tell her to stop and managed to grab her leg and pull her back so she only hit her face on the carpeted floor. I was also holding the baby and totally threw my back out. But no ER!

@regberadaisy: yikes! We're the chopsticks in her ears when you went or did you pull them out before and you just wanted to check damage? I'm shuddering.
We took LO to Emerg because of nursemaid's elbow. We were swinging her (rookie mistake) and dislocated it. We felt flipping horrible but were assured it happens a lot.

@delight: that happened to my friends son and I warned DH about it and how common it is, and he still keeps doing it until I remind him again! It happens so often!

@delight: @Foodnerd81: this happens to us too... The first time we were swinging her and had no idea - she cried so much 
luckily my SIL is a pediatric physio and was able to show us how to fix it. We are super careful ever since then but it still happens sometimes accidentally My SIL said some kids are more susceptible to it than others !

Yeah, my son tripped and smacked his forehead on the wooden edge of his walker. He had a giant gouge they wouldn't stop bleeding so we went to see if he needed stitches which luckily he didn't, they just put a butterfly bandage across it.

Only for illness, but I'm sure it is coming. She's turning into quite the little daredevil.

@Foodnerd81: @Charm54: well I should actually admit it happened a second time to us too! We were told at the hospital that once nursemaid's elbow happens once, it is likely to happen again. We were so careful after the first time but then it happened when I was putting a onesie on her! We were not near a hospital at that time (at our cottage) so DH ended up watching YouTube videos and put it back into place.
It's so easy to do though without even thinking of it. Even just holding on to your child's hand walking up stairs or over a curb can cause it if they trip and you don't let go.

For a concussion, the other two were for illness. No major stitches incidents yet, knock on wood.

@Alba4: @delight: we were eating dinner and she was fooling around and stuck the chopsticks in her ears. She was screaming and crying. The chopsticks were already out of her ears but because she wouldn't stop crying and saying her ears hurt we decided to take her to urgent care. Thankfully, she did not hurt her ear drums! Just bruised the outside of the canal.
Don't need to be a boy mom to get daily heart attacks in this house! DD2 is a daredevil too!

Several times! Once when DD was super tiny (6-7 weeks maybe) bc she choked on some milk and was having trouble breathing. Then DS went at 7 months when he slipped while crawling and knocked his tooth loose. And then finally when DD was about 16 months old, she fractured her wrist.

Dd went because she swallowed a penny and the ped wanted to make sure it wasn't stuck in her esophagus so we went to the ER for an X-ray.
Ds went once because I dropped him as I was falling down the stairs

@delight: c pulls away when I'm holding her hand- like does that dramatic drop to the ground when she's throwing a tantrum- and I'm afraid she will get hurt like that. So far so good but she can be very dramatic.

This thread is timely... We just took DD1 tonight. She fell off a chair and brought the chair down with her. Her leg & foot were stuck in the rungs and she wouldn't walk. Got X-rays and it's not broken, just badly bruised.

With D, once. He was 5m old and somehow flipped himself off the ottoman, landing head-first on a hardwood floor. I'd laid him down for a second to lift my shirt and unclip my nursing bra. It was awful. And it was 5am on Father's Day - great start to Hubs's first one!

We've been once, on New Year's Eve! LO pulled my mom's heavy DSLR camera down on his head from the counter. The strap was hanging over the edge. We were worried about concussion, but he was fine. Babies' heads are resilient!

Her eyes swelled shut from a bug bite!! It really freaked us out because we had no idea what was happening or why.

So far only for ear-infection related high fevers. But I assume it's coming, what with the skiing and bike riding and such.
