Last year, we attended a longtime friend's son's birthday party. This year, I see pics from mutual friends who attended it today. We weren't invited?!? I'm hurt and confused by this. I have a gift I planned to give too. Part of me wants to message the mom and ask if their address has changed yet to send the present and make her feel guilty. Ugh, we have a kid and we're still not invited!?

IDK what I'd do. But I'd be hurt too. But perhaps it was just an oversight? I know I couldn't remember to invite all the people I would normally think of for K's 100 day party (either mommy-brain or just didn't think some people would enjoy it)?

Hmm, was last year a 1st bday? We went all out for DD's 1st bday (it was more like a party for us) but just had pizza with the grandparents for the 2nd. Or is there a big age difference bw your friend's son and your LO? For DD's 3rd, we are going to invite her friends and only include our friends' kids if there's room. Sorry you're hurt, I bet there's a good reason or it was simply an oversight.

Id be that bitch that asks her if her address changed so you can send a gift. If she genuinely forgot you, she'll apologize. If she didnt.... then she'll feel nice and guilty.
Its totally possible that maybe she thought you would be too busy or wouldnt want to come with a baby.

That's really strange- I'd ask her about the address, so if she did forget she can apologize. I forgot to invite someone to my shower and a mutual friend told me "she knows she's not invited." So basically friend made it WORSE by discussing it with her, when really it was an oversight on my part! I sent her an email inviting her and apologizing but she sent a curt "thanks but I can't make it." I still feel bad. So maybe this mom will feel bad? If not, good for you for sending a gift!!! That's very sweet and thoughtful that you had one picked out anyway.

Is it possible they were only inviting kids around the birthday boy's age? I know at that age they start to just have 'friend' parties:) we weren't invited to our nephew's party because it was pretty much just his little friends and their parents:) I think if that's the case, it's totally normal:)

@tysonja: if it was like last year, the age range was from infant to 5 years old. I wrote the email. We'll see what happens.
