I've never been. DH is taking me for my birthday this year.
Got any recommendations of things I *have* to see/do?

Oh yeah, I've been every year for the past 8 years for work. Go to Planet Hollywood for shopping, plan to spend lots of time just walking up and down the strip. Go in as many casinos as you can, they're all so amazing! Don't gamble too much... Check out Pirates of the Caribbean at night and the Bellagio fountains (also at night). Wear sneakers or some other form of super comfy shoes. You'll do a lot of walking and not even realize it!

I got married there and we take a trip there every year, until this year. Ha ha. We love to go gamble at O'Shea's because it is low minimums and a lot less pressure than in some of the hotel casinos. See the Bellagio Fountains, we love the Fashion Show Mall by the Wynn and Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood. I am not really into shows, but the Elvis Cirque show is really good.

My favorite thing to do is just wander through the casinos- the Bellagio, Venitian, and Paris. We ate at Bobby Flay's at Caesar's Palace, so good! The Beatles Love Cirque was the best show I have ever seen! Mandalay Bay was my favorite to stay at, we got a room with a view of the strip, it was amazing! We also did a Vegas Mob tour, so much fun! And last, we did get out of the city for a day and went hiking at Red Rock Park.

I've been many times.
Lion King was great, Bellagio fountains, I really like the Bellagio buffet
Shopping at Caesar's is good.
I would check out all the hotels. They're fun to walk through--Paris, NY NY, Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn, Caesar's.

We got engaged there. Yay! I love Vegas. See any of the Cirque shows FOR SURE.

Yep! Once in college when I was 19 (we drove out from Cali) to visit my friend's parents... Then DH took me again when we first started dating, I took him for his bday the following year, and then my girls took me for my bach party back in 2010

I've been twice and I would definitely love to go back!
I'm not a huge drinker or gambler but I still found heaps of stuff to do!
In no particular order I enjoyed:
- Wandering in and out of all the casinos
- The Eiffel Tower at night (great for the photos)
- M & M's World and Coke World
- A day trip out to the Grand Canyon
- Lots of shopping at the Miracle Mile and Fashion Show Malls
- The show outside of Treasure Island
- The Stratosphere
I'd totally love to go back but unfortunately it's a twelve hour flight...

We eloped there 2 years ago! Only there for 24 hours, but just checking out the hotels was cool the Venetian is really cool it has a gondola ride inside, the bellagio was cool too. I'd love to go back to see some shows someday!

Definitely do a trip to the Grand Canyon! Sooooo worth it! And if you can afford it, go see one of the Cirque du Soleil shows - they're AMAZING! We saw O and LOVED it. And take the time to go visit the Vegas sign and take some pictures.

@Adira: That is exact ally my recommendation. I've been quite a few times and saw whatever Cirque de Soleil shows were playing and they have NEVER been disappointing. I took a helicopter tour with my sister of the Grand Canyon and I've never seen anything more beautiful- that is worth every penny. In Vegas, go see the fountians, you'll probably not enjoy the actual "Strip" as much as you would think- it's crowded lol

I love Vegas but I usually just gamble, go to the pool, pig out and gamble some more! I usually go for a trade show every year but this year they cut back...so sad!

I've never been. My husband and I might go one day. I don't gamble so I'll probably just shop and eat!

We went for our honeymoon and it was amazing!!
We stayed at the Mirage in a room with a view of the strip. We saw three shows, walked a lot! Figured out the bus systems so we could get down to either end of the strip.
I wouldn't suggest walking towards the Stratosphere at night only because it's not the best section of town and not well lit or many bus terminals. We did get approached by someone wanting money and it got scary but luckily a bus showed up in time.
We went and shopped and just walked and walked.
One thing for sure is find the nearest drug store and get snacks for your room.
We found a Walgreens close enough to walk and we kept snacks on hand because bottles of coke/pepsi were $4 each out of the machine and all the food places are expensive.
We loved it and can't wait to go back.

Nope...I"m really not into gambling, but I've heard the shows are great, so I would go for like a 4day trip...I'm sure we'll go at some point since DH loves it there and so do a bunch of his friends.
Have fun!

I went once to try and find ChumLee from the TV show "Pawn Stars". I only live like 5 hours away so I should go more, but I don't drink or gamble. I guess I can shop and see shows I am going in a month and I am pretty excited! I keep hearing something about frozen hot chocolate at serendipitys, so try that!

Yes, a group of my friends went for my 24th birthday. we were all single and crazy so we did the party/club scene more than anything. DH and I are planning on going after DD gets here and I would like to see a Circ show and explore a little more, and not be drunk the whole time haha I'm not much into gambling but DH does like to play blackjack so hopefully we aren't at the tables the whole time!

Never but I want to! I think it's one of those places you have to go to at least once. He was going to surprise me for my 30th but then I got pregnant!
My must are Grand Canyon, a crazy buffet and Cirque de Soleil!

Yes and we're huge fans of the Mirage and Bellagio buffets! Cirque shows and various shopping facilities (e.g. Caesars Forum Shops and Planet Hollywood's Mile) are good entertainment, but just walking up and down the strip entering various hotels is fun. We also hit up dim sum and other Asian food places in Chinatown.

I've been to Vegas waaaay too many times in my lifetime (maybe over 30 times?). It's only like a 4-5 hour drive from LA so it's typically my go-to destination for a quick getaway. It's also a really popular location for bachelorette parties (mine was there too).
In terms of things to do....definitely check out the Bellagio Water Fountains. It's gorgeous! I never get tired of seeing the water show. I would definitely recommend seeing a Vegas show. You can buy really good discount tickets at the Tickets For Less booth near the Fashion Show Mall. We always buy our show tickets there for at least 50% off. Buffets are definitely a must. I personally like the Mirage buffet because of their dessert bar. And for sure for sure check out one of the spas. Caesars Palace's spa is by far my favorite (and I've probably been to at least 10 different spas in Vegas).
And like other Bees have mentioned, it's fun to just walk around the casinos and look at all of the decor. Definitely check out the Wynn, Mirage, Bellagio, Caesars (oooh, make sure you find some time to go shop at the Caesars Forum Shops!), Venetian (they have gorgeous Gondola Rides there if you have the time)....
Hope you have a great time!!

@banana: you're making me really hope my husband surprises me for my 31st!
Is it 1yr old friendly??
coconut / 8299 posts
@regberadaisy: I'd say it is...well in a different way i guess.. haha. I took my son when he was around 1 too and he had fun. There are lots of people there with kids so you dont' have to feel guilty about it. LOL.
So we took him to a few kid-friendly places, like the M&M store on the Vegas Strip, the aquarium at Mandalay Bay, the awesome beach and wade pool at Mandalay Bay (we stayed at Mandalay Bar just for the pool area since kids love it there), and we went to go watch the Bellagio water fountains. We also took him on a Gondola ride at Venetian (which he LOVED). I would recommend getting a suite or mini suite so that you have a kitchen available for you (lifesaver!). And if don't plan on bringing a packnplay or porta-crib, they have PNPs and Cribs there. You just have to request one ahead of time. And of course we ate at lots of buffets cause it's easy to feed a toddler with so much food variety.
Oh, you can also check out Circus Circus. They have free circus shows that kids really like.
It's not the same "vibe" when you have a toddler (OBVIOUSLY! haha) but it's still fun nonetheless. If you can, have someone/your SO watch your toddler for an hour or so (maybe during nap time) so that you can go relax at one of the spas! A must!!!
Hope he surprises you with a Vegas trip tooooooo!!!

The Paris buffet is great if u can time it right on the weekend. You want to aim to be seated around 11:30 am so you can hit breakfast and be there for the switch to lunch. To do it aim to be online between 9:30-10:00. The food is really yummy.

walking through new york, new york, bellagio, caesar's, and the venetian. i've never seen one, but i would definitely see a cirque show or another concert. if you want to go out, you'll have to pay for your hubby, but the hotel you stay at might have perks for their clubs. save the money to splurge for one of the fab restaurants!
i've stayed at the mgm a lot, so i love shibuya, the sushi place there. i also ate at michael mina at the bellagio. so delish!

I've never been and neither has DH. We really want to go sometime soon!!!

Oh, if you really want to a romantic dinner, try Olives at Bellagio and request to sit outside in the patio. You're RIGHT next to the water fountain. It's AMMAAZZINNG....

Go to Freemont Street and see the light show at night. It's the "old Las Vegas" that you see in the movies. Also, there are dueling pianos in Paris Lad Vegas. They are awesome and will play anything you ask and will have the whole bar singing along.
