I have a few things stashed away for both girls that I scored on clearance. A fisher price baby toy set, magnatiles, and a 4-in-1 look and find book!

I have shopped for one niece already and I have one gift for LO and one for my brother. I like to start early.

No, and I am so stressed about what to buy them. Holiday's in general stress me out, so much gift buying for everyone.
cantaloupe / 6634 posts
Yup! I have all my friends and nieces and nephews taken care of

Nope - I'm usually done by end of October if you can believe it. I have no idea what to do this year because of mat leave I don't know if we can afford to get gifts

@babycanuck: Make some! One year I did some made sugar scrubs. Brown sugar, vanilla and coconut oil in mason jars. Smelled amazing and so cheap!

@sorrycharlie: I did sugar scrubs for my shower - I'm thinking I'll do a big batch for my 15 year old niece, but no idea what to do for my nephews (12 and 5)

I got some stuff for my nephews. I found reindeer book sets on Zulily that's supposed to be a better alternative to Elf on a shelf and not focus on bad behavior. Reviews were good for it.
Christmas was never a big holiday for me but since having our LOs, I want to buy all things Christmas for our babies.

Nope, only just got past lo1's birthday! Planning to get serious about it in the next few weeks and make a list of what to get.
pomegranate / 3275 posts
Yup! I'm having my fourth the Monday after Christmas, so I have started. Clearance magna tiles from target, some book with corresponding stuffed animals from zulily, a few American girl accessories, a cheap brio set, and I think that's it. I like stocking up!

Nope, I've got our niece and nephews birthdays in November to deal with first.

Yes! I have some warm fuzzy pjs for the girls, and gifts for my mom, MIL, sisters, nieces, and SILs that I bought on a recent vacation (mostly jewelry). I have a few things in my "gift drawer" that need to get given to the girls (or their friends) pretty soon, but I haven't purchased big gifts for the kids or my husband...or anything for the men in my family.

Not yet but we have talked about what to get LO. I would like LO to have a learning tower so DH is looking at how to make one using an ikea step stool. We also want to get LO a train set.

For Evan I have magnetic tiles "from baby sister" and a set of match box cars with a carrying case, and a Doctor Who blanket for my mom.
I usually don't start shopping so soon, but I'm due on Christmas Eve and I want to get as much done as I can now.

No but I have a bunch of stuff saved on my Amazon wish list. And M's bday is 2 weeks before Christmas!
pomegranate / 3845 posts
Nope. I never buy a ton of gifts, usually just one thing for DH, one thing for my parents, and one thing for my brother. LO gets so much stuff all the time that Christmas isn't a big gift thing for him. It's more about family time and he's way more thrilled by wrapping paper than the actual toys lol

I've started collecting ideas and putting things on a wishlist, but I haven't actually bought anything yet. The hardest is my DH since he usually either doesn't want anything or just buys what he needs. I'm so glad I had an early idea for him, I just need to research it a bit more to find the right one!

I have my husband's gift and a couple of stocking stuffers. I have a few birthday's first though.

I've slowly accumulated a few items for my gift closet. I'll probably start thinking about gifts and adding to my Amazon cart. I'll purchase when the price drops low enough and store for Christmas.
pomegranate / 3355 posts
Yes. Actually basically done for DD. I also crafted gifts for family members so they are pretty much done too. Need to figure out DH and my other relatives....

Wow you are all so organised, I havent even thought about it yet! And I have DS birthday in there too!

Haven't started yet, but I need to as I'm having a baby next month. We are doing "want, need, wear, read" this year, which I feel takes some pressure off.

I slowly purchase as I find good deals all year long. We have pretty much all of her Christmas/Hanukkah done which is a relief since #2 will be here in Dec and I won't have the time or energy to deal with it.

I was looking just the other day for a gift for my niece and nephew! We drew names to save money so our family of three will only buy for three people, and each other.

yep! I emailed my nieces and nephews in Sept and they were like "Ummm, Aunt G its not even October!!!"
But they told me and its all been bought and wrapped.... sitting in a closet upstairs now.

My nephews are done, DS2 is done and I have Christmas jammies and outfits for both of my boys

I bought my first one today! pre-ordered Aladdin on Amazon
I will start getting stuff here and there, I have my list made out so it's just watching for prices. I still don't know what big gift I'm going to get my oldest daughter, the baby is getting "renewed museum and zoo passes" plus some little things...she's too young to know any different right (is this bad??)
I have to figure out 3 nieces and a nephew, but otherwise we have scaled way back on present buying which has been nice (decided mutually with family)
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
Not yet, but I need to. I feel like my list is kinda long this year.

@babycanuck: @sorrycharlie: We did homemade gifts one year and I really enjoyed it! We did sugar scrubs that I think turned out great but some family members seemed like they would have preferred gift cards, ha.
I do gift cards for a lot of folks to make life easier on myself and it's been made clear that's what they like anyway. I have in my head what I want to do for LO - I am going to wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday to get everything!
pomegranate / 3658 posts
@sorrycharlie: I did peppermint sugar scrubs for people last year and everyone loved them. Super easy.
honeydew / 7235 posts
No. I'm bad like that. I wil buy everything the week of most likely
kiwi / 556 posts
Yes! Christmas is my favourite day of the year! I have so far a soft toy Santa dog for DD plus 3 (soon to be 4) books, a plush Santa dog for my stepmother, a book for my MIL and a book for my FIL, a handful of things for DH (stocking stuffers mostly), plus I've ordered a CD of DD's daycare pictures to use for photo gifts for my nz family back home (I'll order from the nz website to save money on shipping).
We have a huge income and a tight budget, so I shop deals throughout the year and plan obsessively. I love it!

I haven't even begun to think of holiday gifts! My LO is only 7 months though so I'm not worried about impressing her too much
But this is what amazon prime is for anyway! Over the last few years I've realized how little I enjoy shopping in person, and last year in particular I was 7 months pregnant so it was particularly tiring to shop so I now make it my mission to do everything online.
Also as much as possible I try to convince my family that we should only do gifts for the little ones. I don't need presents, I just like spending time together, eating good food and drinks!

I bought a bunch of stuff when target closed down. All toys for the girls, wish I had gotten more adult stuff then too.

The jet.com recommendation helped me out. I just bought 4 things for Sadie!
