Have you ever deleted "friends" from Facebook because you aren't really friends with them/don't stay in touch?
I cleaned my friend list about 5 years ago when I switched jobs and am thinking about doing it again now before LO2 arrives.

Yep. I do it every year or so. Sometimes I have guys on there that were my friend's bf and they had split and no one talks to them etc.
Or like people from high school that never grew out of their passive aggressiveness or backhanded compliments. I don't have time for that shit. Bye.

When I had FB I did this all the time. In fact I would tell people ahead of time they have a few days to look at all my pics because really that's why people friend each other, but then I would delete them. These people were more so work "friends" or friends of friends.

I'm not super picky about who I will friend but I delete people if I find them annoying. I don't usually bother with unfollowing, unless it's a family member.

Yes! And you just reminded me to go do it. I unfriend about 15 friends. I'm ruthless. If I haven't had any kind of contact with you in a year, then you're gone.

Thanks all. I am at the point that I haven't talked to some people in years, I don't miss them, and don't feel like sharing personal photos and updates. Time to delete.

I block them instead of unfriending them so they just won't see me on FB (unless they search from a different account.) I just think it's awkward for either the unfriend-er or unfriend-ee.
Plus this way the can't send you another friend request cause believe it or not plenty of people do even after being unfriended.

All the time. It's kind of mean, but I use the birthday feature to clean out instead of actually wishing people a happy birthday.
If I haven't seen you on a few years, don't plan on seeing you on purpose and don't talk on a regular basis, I see no real reason to be fb friends.

When I started deleting and unfollowing people at crazy rates, I decided fb wasn't contributing anything positive to my life so I deactivated almost 2 years ago. Such a relief!

I unfollow more than I unfriend, but I did a big cleanout just a couple of weeks ago. I thought by the time I was finished that I would have reduced my list by at least 50%, but was disappointed to find I had only booted around 100 people. I guess it's harder than I thought.

All the time! A lot of the time I just put them on super restricted profile status, but I like to go through and do an un-friending every now and again. I actually un-friended a girl I used to volunteer with recently. Her daughter was born three days before my son, and I tried multiple times the first year of their lives to get the kids together for a playdate. She kept rejecting me or just not responding. When I un-friended her on facebook, she immediately re-added me. I laughed and didn't accept her! If you can't bother to be my friend in real life, there's no reason you should be looking at my profile!

Not really. Maybe 1 or 2 per year? Mostly just people who are offensive. I don't delete people because I don't talk to them anymore though!

All the time. I hate having people on there just because. I usually try to keep my friends list around 100 people. Once it starts getting past that, I go through and see if there's anyone I don't want on there anymore.

Yep! I think collecting "friends" is just weird. I only want my FB friends to be people I actually care about. If I can't remember how I know you, you're getting deleted!

Yep I usually do it once a year, it's nice to get rid of the people you don't' talk to anymore.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Yes I have! There are people I outright unfriend b/c I'm not even sure why we're friends in the first place; then people I just unfollow.

I go through my friends list every so often and delete people I either haven't talked to in years, or I literally can't remember who they are.
grapefruit / 4355 posts
No but I was never one to friend all kinds of random people. I actually know every single person I am Facebook friends with (even if I don't talk to them outside of Facebook anymore).
nectarine / 2973 posts
Nope. I only add people that I know but I don't mind a bunch of people being on my FB. I don't know if I've ever actually deleted anyone.
