Have you ever done a 24 hour detox?
Did it work for you (weight loss or just generally feeling better)?
Did you follow a meal plan / tutorial? Care to share?
Do you do longer detoxes?
Any other thoughts on them?

Detox like no caffeine, sugar, refined carbs? Never done it, never wanted to!
I once did the Whole Life Challenge, which is paleo-ish food with weekly challenges thrown in like drinking a certain amount of water, meditating, etc. It's setup like a game where you get points. It was kind of fun, but I found the dietary restrictions to be too much work.

@Happygal: Yes basically. I just read a blog about how there are so many toxins in our "modern world" that our bodies can use extra help to get rid of them / reduce belly bloat.
Figured a 1 day detox wouldn't hurt, but does it really help anything?

Yeah, there are ton of toxins in our environment, but if you're consuming food and drinking water, you're not ridding yourself of anything. Those toxins are in the food, the water, the air. I watched a really interesting documentary on Netflix about it.
I've never tried a full on cleanse. I don't have the discipline, lol.

I've never done it and I don't think I have the discipline to do it! I would think that you need a longer detox time to actually see any benefits though.

I did a.3 day juice cleanse, and it was rough! I was hungry. I lost 5 pounds, which of course came back in the next week, but it made me look less bloated. It would be good before boudoir photos, a wedding, a Vegas weekend, etc. Didn't really feel healthier, just hungry.

@looch: lol. Well that's reassuring. Doomed no matter what.
@Mrs. Microscope: Did the less-bloated look stay longer or was the bloat back the next week also? 5 lbs lost would be great if it would stay gone. Not sure I could go 3 whole days without real food!

@josina: I haven't done it and I agree with @looch: that we're exposed regardless and Id also like to add that your body isn't helpless. It has pretty good detox pathways on its own. That doesn't mean you can't support the detox pathways woth certain things you consume but your body is pretty efficient. I've been looking at doing the Suja juice one day renewal. It's 3 juices paired with 3 meals (they give you an eating plan) to help you kick off a healthier diet or health you "reset" after the holidays or a drinking weekend or whatever. I want to do one because of all the meds I've taken since my d&c I feel bad for my body lol i have no idea if it would aid in weight loss. EtA: I'm also skeptical that one day could really be all that helpful though!

I am doing a 21 day 'reboot' that a friend who is a holistic nutritionist runs. I have done it 3 other times, and have varying results in terms of weight loss, but I always end up with increased energy and overall better feeling.
She doesn't call it a 'cleanse' because the idea behind it is that you are supposed to clear you system out of some bad habits...and hopefully not reintroduce them ;P
There is no gluten (limited grain), no dairy, no coffee but a cup or two of green tea is allowed, no alcohol, and a few other random limitations. She provides shopping lists and recipes, a support community online, it is really great. I like them and find them a really supportive way to reset my system!
