I hate micro-manager bosses! I had one in the past and I just couldn't work with him so I ended up leaving my job. Do you work well with micro-manager bosses?

I had one who drove me nuts!! She somehow got promoted from a different department and had no idea about the important detailsmof doing our job but she stood there and tried to dictate every move even if it meant making more work or doing it incorrectly. Eventually I started doing it her way after getting email confirmation of what she wanted then I could prove it was her fault and her bosses realized she was a moron and made her go to weeks of training.

I did for about two weeks when I started this job (he would sit in my office and read marketing emails I was writing over my shoulder and recompose them over and over again so it would take 2 hours to write an email... and he hired me because I can write). But then he got fired and ever since I've reported directly to the company CEO. Ha!

Yup! Not only did she micro-manage, but she also undermined me and took credit for work that I did. I stayed for 10 months before I finally got fed up and found a new job. When I went for my exit interview and they asked me why I was leaving, I told them it was all because of her. They told me that I was the 3rd social worker to leave because of her. And yet, she was still there.

It's been a while, but it was awful. There is nothing more de-motivating than a micro-manager.

@littlebug: omg she sounds horrible! I hate credit-taker bosses more than micro-manager bosses!

They drive me nuts. That's what made me leave one job and not sad to not return to another after having LO.

Currently working for one and I think about quitting daily. I've expressed interested in moving around in the company, hopefully I expressed it loud enough!

I have and it was awful. Everyone hated him and the turnover was super-high because of him.

I worked for a super micro manager a few years back - she was such a control freak! But it was as tough for her as it was for me as I had been on secondment in a managers position, covering someone's maternity leave, and had come back to work in her team - so you can imagine how much we were at each other's throats. We got on really well, personally, though (we're still friends actually) and when I was offered a new job, we hatched a plan and marched into her managers office, pretending to be having a bit fall-out. I slammed my notice on his desk - you should have seen his face!!! Then we both dissolved into giggles and told him I was leaving because I'd got a new job!
