I have had them since my husband is from Poland. My kids had their first one's last Fat Tuesday at only 8 months. My husband said the nanny was letting them eat the inside and I said, it is a holiday, let them have their own!

They are TOTALLY a Michigan thing. I was really bummed when we moved to IL and no one knew what i was talking about. So, yes, and I miss them.

Yep! I had never heard of them before moving up to Chicago, but a girlfriend of mine is from Michigan and made a giant deal out of me trying them, ha. They were definitely yummy, but my uneducated palate just thought they were like donuts.

Yep. We live near some Polish bakeries. People wait in line for them on Fat Tuesday. For me, it's just another delicious donut to avoid.

@scg00387: Where in IL? Chicago has Polish bakeries that sell them since we have the second biggest Polish population outside of Poland.
