I made these for lunch yesterday. Oh my gosh. SO GOOD. Inside out grilled cheese = cheese melted on the outside of the bread, as well as on the inside. But the outside cheese gets all crunchy and delicious from the buttery pan. Mmmm.

I have never heard of this! How do you make it? In a frying pan? Wouldn't this end up with just melted cheese everywhere lol?

@Reese: @pui: thank you for posting that video! I may or may not have used more butter than that... Also, the best thing is when you (naturally) use more cheese than they did on the outsides and let it ooze out a little so you get the crusty cheeses hanging off of your sandwich.

I have no self-control when it comes to cheese and fried bread, so of course I made this for lunch today.
(@Mrs.Panda: Mine wasn't quite as pretty either, but it was good!) I strongly disagree with the "white bread only" edict on the video. Fried multigrain bread with a few seeds on top is where it's at! I also doctor my grilled cheeses by spreading a little Dijon (regular or whole grain) mustard on the inside of each slice, which I'm guessing isn't approved either, but it is delicious.

Yummmmm! My work cafeteria does a "grown up" grilled cheese bar with these, and bacon, mushrooms, assorted cheeses, grilled onions, etc as topping choices.
