I was a FT live-in nanny in NY and one of the kids was a 3 yo girl who refused to be potty-trained and held it in instead to protest potty-training, inevitably she had severe constipation. *I*, the nanny, had to insert her suppositories.

Just imagine doing it to SOMEONE ELSE'S kid.

Wow. Suppositories in the lo. I hope to never have to do that! It was bad enough that I had some inserted a few days ago. I'm still slightly scarred from that.

Yuck. Luckily, I've never had to and I hope I never do! Obviously, I would do it if LO needed it but just the thought makes me nervous.

Yes, my son had severe constipation for months, I had to give him glycerin suppositories every other day and then when those quit working I had to force mineral oil down his throat. That was so bad.. The next step was surgery, thank goodness it resolved itself.

@anonysquire: I have given several adult suppositories & enemas too & it has never fazed me. After receiving one of each this last week while in the hospital it has forever changed they way I will administer them to my patients from now on...
