I'm thinking of doing a milk and cookies party for DD's 2nd birthday and I really want to try to make a cookie cake. (I know, they're only $10 from the grocery store.....) But, I'd really like to try to make one. Any recipe I've tried never gets it good and gooey like the ones I see at the mall.

i use the tollhouse recipe (the one on the morsels package). you have to seriously reduce the cooking time for the "cookie bar variation". just keep an eye on it; i remove when it's golden brown on top.

Growing up I always had a giant cookie for my birthday. I think my mom just rolled pillsbury cookie dough out into the shape of a circle!

Yep! Just make a normal cookie recipe and watch when you cook it. Sams has a double layer one for $16 and it is so good!

If you want to be really lazy, I've bought the pillsbury tube of cookie dough and rolled it out to make a cookie cake before. Homemade is always better, but it works in a pinch
