Random thought I had while I was nursing my LO down for the night.
I've never milked a cow, but I really want to for some reason..

Yup. At a trip to a local farm when I was young. It's harder than it looks!

Nope, but we're picking up our first set of cows (8) tomorrow so I'm looking forward to add that to my "been there, done that" list!

@chopsuey119: I went on a school field trip once & we each got to try it. I remember that I didn't get any milk out, but I also remember not trying very hard! lol

@Alivoo01: Why are you picking up cows?! Do you guys own a farm..?
@beka: fun!! Or maybe not fun... ?
@sulli301: HAHA. I always think about Samantha from SATC when it comes to milking cows!

@chopsuey119 - I was THE BEST in my family at massaging the cow's udder to get her to let the milk down. But, the freezing temps in the winter, and buzzing flies in the summer, not to mention the occasional kick from the cow... yeah, basically, I don't miss it!

@beka: HAHAHA! Fun stories to tell your kids though! Great memories too..

@chopsuey119: Yup! We bought it a year ago, and have been recitfying the place. We just registered a brand for them, and can't wait to see our farm flourish and be proud of it.

@beka: I'm not looking forward to the kicking, the flies and the mosquitos...

@chopsuey119: Yeah, good memories. A farm is a great place for a kid to grow up!

@Alivoo01: Honestly, you get used to it. Going back to the farm now is harder. At the time? It was no big deal. I'm sure you'll be fine!

Yep, on a field trip in elementary school. We live in an area with a lot of farms.
Haha this reminds me- Earlier today one of my pre-k students was playing with a toy cow and she was asking what the "little bumps" on the tummy were for. I explained that they were for feeding the baby cows. Then she took a horse (which had a BIG bump between its legs...) and asked if that for feeding baby horses... Hahaha I laughed and remembered that these moments are why I teach little kids.

Yup, grew up on a farm too. A couple squeezes before putting the machine on is fine, but when it broke, it took for-EVAH!

Yes, but mostly goats since I grew up on a goat farm. Every day before school and before dinner it was one of my chores. We did it all by hand, no machinery to help us out.
Then I walked uphill to school, both ways, barefoot I do miss a lot about that lifestyle, it was really fun.
Now when it is time to pump, I usually crack jokes about heading to the milking parlor.

No but I also have some strange desire to do it! Maybe just to say that I did?
