At our old house? All the time! If we ever did a pizza or something, it would go off even if there wasn't anything that was burning! It really made us think twice about lazy food like that!

allll the time. Our new apt must have a REALLY sensitive smoke detector because it happens weekly.

Haha I used to do that all the time at our old apartments! It was so tiny, it was inevitable!

All. The. Time. Haha! I'm the worst with pancakes, second is bacon.

We did this all the time at a house in college. We were an all girls house and the firemen thought we did it on purpose. Turns out they built the kitchen in a completely weird way.

I did a couple times when I lived in an apartment. It was so annoying!

At our old apartment it would go off if you made popcorn! That thing was crazy. Since we've moved we have only set it off once b/c DH was making fatback and it smokes like crazy.

Um, yes.. And I actually set our oven on fire.. I put leftover pizza in the oven to stay warm.. Forgot I did it and then tried to preheat oven.. Oops... Thank god I know how to work a gore extinguisher.

I used to set it off once every day. We had a very sensitive condo fire alarm too- boiling water without the fan would set it off.

When we used to live in an apartment, we set it off all the freaking time for no reason really. Nothing was burning, just let out some smoke and off it went. So we disabled it - bad, I know.
At our house, we've never set it off no matter how smoky some of our cooking got!

I do that every time I sear a roast or make my french toast (it's not burned, it's caramelized). We have 10' ceilings, but I still have to go get a step stool and fan the smoke detector with a rag until the smoke clears.

Um, yes.
DH says it's our "timer" to let me know my cooking is done (aka burnt).
I prefer to say we have a sensitive detector.... Yeah, I'm going with that.

Yes. We had a very tiny kitchen at the last place we lived, and the smoke alarm went off CONSTANTLY. If we had the oven above 350, basically, it would go off. We eventually unhooked it! Not very safe, but my god, we couldn't take it anymore.

I've lived in apartments before with very sensitive smoke detectors and always set them off cooking. The ones at our house aren't that sensitive though, I can't remember ever setting them off in the 4 years we've lived there.

In our old apartment it would ALWAYS go off no matter what we cooked, even if nothing was burning. It was ridiculous!

I have a friend who's alarm used to go off when they used their vacuum in their college apartment! So funny!

In my moms house the smoke detectors were extremely sensitive so nearly anytime anyone cooked without fans on they would go off. But not long ago I actually set our stove on fire.... the smoke detectors certainly went off then.

Not since my college apartment! The oven in our current apartment gets smoky, too, but usually the vent and opening the window makes sure it doesn't get too out of hand.
