I went to a shooting range once where I shot a variety of guns from revolvers to shot guns. It was scary but fun.
Have you ever shot a gun?

A couple of times. It's been a while though. Guns make me uncomfortable.

yep, several times at shooting ranges. i learned from someone in the military.

Yes, I learned as a child. I had to go out on the front porch all the time and fire a shotgun in the air to scare off cougars and bobcats that were trying to eat our sheep.

Just once at a gun range. The experience was horrifying. The bullets were hot and popped back on me, the "eyes and ears" were akward to weat, the room was loud, and I was so uncomfortable around others with their loaded guns. My friend, a seasoned gun handler, was sweating bullets because I made him so nervous. I was a pretty good shot though.

Only my brothers BB gun when we were young. Guns scare me! My dad and brother go to the shooting range pretty often though. My brother was in the military and my dad's a probation officer.

@Arden: sounds like an interesting tale!
I've shot guns, but not a lot. I like target shooting.

I grew up around guns since we had a farm and its just part of it, but never shot one until I started dating my husband in high school. He's a huge hunter and sportsmen, so I'm very used to them now. I even have a concealed license. I mostly just dove hunt and clay shoot, but we usually go and shoot everything we own a few times a year, which includes rifles, shotguns and an assortment of hand guns.

Yes, I shot a rifle at a shooting range when I was 20 or 21. I was so scared!

Yes, a million times! I've shot handguns, shotguns, rifles, semi-automatics, etc. We love shooting skeet, so that's shotguns, we have a friend who has a range so that's the semi's and rifles, and DH has a dozen handguns and I've shot them all. I'm a good shot if I do say so myself.

Yup! Took a gun safety course and then we went to the range and shot a variety of guns. I had a bruise from the shot gun for a week!!

Nope. We actually had been planning on going to a shooting range over Christmas, for the first time, then everything in Newtown happened and I just really lost interest in it. I would like to at some point, just to sort of know what to do and how it works, but it's going to take a while before I'd feel comfortable with it.
I grew up in a crowded suburb in NJ-- definitely no need to shoot a gun to scare any creatures off there! If you shot a gun to scare a raccoon or something, pretty sure all the neighbors would rightly call the cops!

Nope. never even seen a real gun (outside of the ones holstered by police) but I've never seen an unholstered police gun either.

Funny you just started this post! I was going to start a very similar one!
I just went shooting for the first time yesterdaY! I shot my husbands glock, and my dads revolver. I didn't like my dads at all or my husbands really. I have tiiiiiny hands so its hard for me to hold them and actually have a steady grip. But all in all I'm glad I went and now I know how to at least shoot one and handle it properly.

Yes, my dad taught us how to shoot rifles while growing up. I really don't like shooting anything more than a bb or pellet gun, the kick back hurts too much.

Yes, I grew up around guns and hunting; my high school PE class even had a whole section on shooting where we all went out to the range for target practice!

Sure have! I did military training for 3 years and I even got Top Shot in my class!

Yes but I don't like it !! My dad gave me a gun and made me show him I knew how to use it if necessary. It was nerve wracking !!!

I've shot a variety of guns, but they still make me nervous.

A few times at gun ranges. I was pretty freaked out by guns before, but wanted to try it. It was scary the first time, but I think it's pretty fun to target shoot. I'm still not completely comfortable around them and would like to go more and get to the point where I can handle one on my own comfortably.

Only a rifle once in a little contest. I was really bad - bet I could hit the broadside of a barn.

Yep, DH and his family are skeet shooters so I've learned to skeet shoot over the years.

Yup! The hubby has gone through a few 9mm and also owns a shot gun. We've gone to the range together a few times.
