I would love to trade in my old swing - which was bought at consignment when by my MIL when she found out we were pregnant - for a new swing for this new LO (due in March) but I don't know how it works. I mean, do you bring it in your car, let them know you have it, get a coupon/credit based on how old it is or if you just have one, etc? So I'm curious about the responses you get to this post!

Or look on craigslist for something you could buy super cheap and then trade in?

I was given an old stroller while pregnant with DS 5 years ago. I never used it. I traded it in for a new carseat with a higher 5 point harness weight limit for him on Friday. .

When you do a trade in, is it like a percent off a new item?

@Bao: its supposed to be 25% off a new item but not all brands are included and you only get 15% off britax items. Here is the fine print from their site
Excludes Maxi-Cosi car seats, doorway jumpers, Baby jogger, Britax, Bugaboo, Mamas & Papas, Peg Pérego, Phil & Teds, Quinny and Unbeatable Price items. **Excludes Maxi-Cosi car seats, doorway jumpers, Baby jogger, Britax, Bugaboo, Mamas & Papas, Peg Pérego, Phil & Teds, Quinny and Unbeatable Price items. †Savings offered on Britax items is 15%.

I've never traded anything in because last time none of the brands I wanted were included and this time when I wen to the store they irritated me with their return policy so I dont want to shop there anymore

YES! We traded in our bouncer and bought a bouncer (for $5 from craigslist to trade in). When we did this at this time last year, the were still allowing the full 25% off on Britax. We used the two 25% off coupons we had on our Britax convertible carseats.
Our store was generous at the time. The fabrics we wanted said available in store, but were only really online. They did the order in store for us (and they were already marked down online).
It was super easy and saved quite a bit of money on something we needed.

I've done the trade in, it was really easy. I took old stuff that my sister and sister-in-law had. If I recall correctly, you have to use the coupon that same day.
