Yes, it may give you a name/stigma, but have you ever done it to someone you aren't that fond of?
Not trying to be snarky, just curious.

A few years ago, I gifted a friend of mine this really annoying turtle. At the time I thought it was kind of funny. But I wasn't a parent yet. Now, I actually feel kind of terrible about it. He probably hated me a little bit for it.

As a joke I did it for my best friend and her kid's first birthday. We got a big set of musical instruments (drum, piano, guitar, etc) and a baby doll that cried and made lots of noises.
As a joke she got my DD the same stuff for her first birthday!

My brother and I have this little war about this. Last birthday for DS they gave DS a knock knock joke book. (Guess who had to listen to all the jokes?) But I alway give my niece something a little annoying too lol.

I used to do this to my sister on purpose! Water guns, paint, the works, I was I'm my 20s with no kids so I thought it was hilarious. At the time she vowed revenge when I would have kids. It's probably time for me to worry about vengeance!

I used to buy my nephews the loudest gifts I could find! My brother got R the B Toys Drum set for Christmas as payback.

haha I don't know if Hubs' cousins realize I've done it on purpose. I can't stand them and hubs doesn't know what to get little girls (she's 5) so this year I bought her a colour your own purse (comes with permanent markers...it said 3+!) and create your own nail polish. We got their little man (3 y/o) a kids digital camera.
A few years ago someone else (I think another uncle) bought them hungry hungry hippos and they were like "REALLY? You had to buy the LOUDEST game out there?" haha

We got my nephews painting supplies (it was my MIL's idea to be fair) I sent them a tarp and smocks and a huge apology ahead of time- the boys LOVED it and kept asking my SIL when it was time to paint
She said she didn't mind.
