I've had one removed on my back (twice), one on my face, and one on my leg. I have another one on my face that I need/want to get removed.

Worst decision of my life! I had one removed on my hip and it left such a huge scar.

One on my back and one on my leg.
Like @anonysquire I ended up with a huge ugly raised scar. Ugh.
grapefruit / 4669 posts
Yep, one on my toe, one on my butt cheek (a TINY little one that happened to be pre-cancerous) and one from the middle of my back (also pre-cancerous/irregular). No scars!

Yes. One on my back and I'm pretty sure ill need a few more removed also

One (my birthmark) on my right leg and another (pre cancerous) on my left leg. Both left bad scars. Having them removed by a dermatologist would definitely have been better. My PCP did mine.

I've had a few removed. One on my forehead and some on my stomach.

Yep, one on my back because it was rubbing against my bra strap and kept getting irritated. I think it's coming back if that's possible??

Nope! But i have freckles and my grandma thinks they are the same as moles...and wants me to get them removed!
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@caffeinated: If they're dark like the color of a mole but flat, they can still be bad--neither of my pre-cancerous ones was raised. And one was like the circumference of a pencil lead!

@tororojo: hmmm, now you are scaring me! they are fairly light. I would say that none are dark brown, darkest is maybe brown? She thinks they are ugly, and has been bugging me for a decade to get them removed!
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@caffeinated: Haha, ugliness does not equal dangerous. If they're not dark, irregular, huge, new or growing, you're probably fine. Don't google it or you'll want to throw up, btw.

@tororojo: i have noticed some new freckles. I wonder if i should get it checked out? Ugh, freckles run in the family! Haha,i stopped image googling after the nastiness "milk blister" produced!

Yep, I had a punch biopsy of an abnormal looking one and then had a wide local excision of it. Boo.
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@caffeinated: Wouldn't hurt to have a full body check at some point, but man are they awkward. Get a girl doctor--I don't mind a male gyno, but you really need a girl dermatologist if she's gonna look at all your skin and crevices. Freckles are really okay, though. Just keep an eye on them and make sure they're not growing/changing/darkening. I'm waaaaay overdue on my mole check; that's one of the first things on my post-pregnancy agenda.

I had a large mole removed from the back of my leg when I was in high school. It was larger then a quarter, slightly raised and had started turning colors. I have 3inch scar but I'm glad it's gone! Kids use to make fun of me saying I had poop on my leg.

One on my back . . . it was right on was of my lower vertebrae, so every time I would do something like a sit up on a hardish surface it would hurt. I do have a scar from the removal, but it is flat and better looking than the mole.

@Turd Ferguson: Sorry to bump this old thread. Do you recall if your punch biopsy hurt for days after the procedure was done? I just had one done on Wednesday of last week of a freckle on my rib cage area. Once the numbing shot wore off hours later, it hurt like a bitch and STILL HURTS 5 days later.

@agold: Ugh, that blows. Yeah, it hurt, I don't remember so much how long it was with the punch biopsy, the WLE hurt forevvvvvver. I bet it's worse since its on your ribs though, too.
Does it look ok (like, not infected) otherwise?
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Turd Ferguson: Oh gees. I actually haven't even really looked at it. It looks black, but I think that makes sense since the doctor said she used something like nitrate to stop the bleeding. The pain subsided a bit this morning so I am taking that as a good sign. Of course I chose to have this done while I'm pregnant and won't take any pain meds or down half a bottle of voda like I normally would for something like this!

I had one removed in college, there is a little scar. I've gotten a bunch of new ones with my pregnancies, something about increased blood flow. Some of them went away after LO1, I am going to wait a few months PP and then see a dermatologist. There are two on my back and some on my chest I wonder about. The chest ones come and go with pregnancy, so I want to see what's still there before I get a bunch of stuff removed.
